Sorry, but I'm not a photographer in any way, shape or form. You might want to ask your question on the photography forum.

    Solmar V new years

I did the Solmar V last year at the end of April. The water temperature at the surface was about 78 degrees. It was about 63 degrees at 80 feet. I wore a Bare 3mm wetsuit and also a 3mm hooded vest. Most of the other divers were wearing 5mm wetsuits, with hoods or beanies. I was comfortable...

Can somebody loan me a wetsuit?

For some reason, none of the LDS's in my area will rent one to me. Thanks

    400m swim for DM

I was also a competive swimmer who grew up with laps=lengths. When I started fitness swimming 5 years ago (after 27 years of idleness & sloth) I started running into other swimmers caught up in the 'lap' argument. Because of the confusion I started using 'length' instead of 'lap' (i.e. 100...

    GREAT time in Roatan

I was in Roatan last week too. Stayed at Fantasy Island. Kind of an average resort but a first rate dive op. Got 19 dives last week; they were all good. Now if I can just get out of the Atlanta airport and back to Indy...

What does it look like when you almost run into a whale?

I was on the Solmar V last year in late April. We were on our first dive of the day at Roca Partida at about 70 feet when 3 humpback whales (2 adults & a baby) passed over our group. They were out of sight in just a couple of seconds. The dive masters told us there had been a big pod of...

    yippee! booked our vacation!

Our boat was at Saba for only two days. The sea was a little choppy at the time and we had some green-tinged divers so our captain made the crossing over to Statia in hopes of finding some calmer water. I was sorry to leave. Saba really is a beautiful place. There's not much to see from a...

    yippee! booked our vacation!

We visited Saba in November '05 while we were on the Caribbean Explorer II. Of all the places I've been in the Caribbean I like Saba best. It's a beautiful island, the people are very nice and the divings good. Diamond Rock is a great dive site.

Best Dive you've thumbed before doing

I've declined a couple night dives on liveaboards because I was tired from earlier dives.

    Cozumel Dive Boat?

I've used Dive Paradise & Sand Dollar Sports and have no complaints. I was in Coz last October and stayed at Scuba Club. The dive operation there is excellent.

Should they require swimming for OW certificate?

Maybe on your next poll you can ask if a 200 yard swim for OW certification is long enough.

    How fit are you?

I started diving about 7 years ago. I got tired of being the first one to run out of air so I started swimming. Currently, I'm swimming a minimum of 2500 yards a day, Monday through Friday. I don't use up my air nearly as fast as I used to.

Should you instruct your own family member?

I think that is a question that can only be determined by the particular instructor & student.

    Aaaaaaaaarrrrrtgggghhhhhhhhh

You have my sympathies. The same thing happened to me last month. The liveaboard we were taking to the Dry Tortugas cancelled the day before we were to scheduled to fly out. Ah well, nothing to do for it except hang on until the Roatan trip next month. Gotta keep looking forward.

    The best of 2006

My best diving experience of 2006 was a trip on the Solmar V to Socorro Island in May. On our first dive at a site called Roca Partida we saw white tip reef sharks, manta rays, and humpback whales. We spent two days at Roca Partida and saw the whales, 2 adults and a calf, on almost every dive...

See Dos Ojos when in Coz

I dove Dos Ojos cenote last August. It was a great dive, but a little on the cool side. I'd taken a 1 1/2 mil skin for diving in Coz. If I'd known we were diving the cenotes I'd have brought the 3 mil suit.
