Thanks for the replies so far. Not sure what the popcorn reference was for though!
My tank was as high as was practical - any higher and I wouldn't have been able to lift my head up. I think that was what jonnythan cottoned onto when he said maybe the tank was *too* high, although I'd love...
Interesting. Could you please clarify? How would I be shifting my weight subconsciously? The only weight I can move backwards/forwards would be my legs.
:-)
Hi
While diving in warm water recently I discovered I had 'heavy feet' syndrome.
I was using my 2/3mm wetsuit, steel backplate (2kg - 4 1/2lb ish), an aluminum tank and jetfins.
I needed no extra weight to hold a stop at 3m with 30 bar in the tank and no air in the wing, so my weighting...
I seem to remember he didn't kick off the side, and he was wearing one of those skin-tight body suits, without weights, and I don't remember if he did a normal breast-stroke or something like this guy: http://www.flurl.com/uploaded/166m_underwater_6901.html
I managed the 25m the other night...
Hi
Some time ago I saw an mpeg of a freediver swimming the entire 25m length of a pool underwater in only 3 strokes.
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, can you please tell me where you saw it? I can't for the life of me find it anywhere!
Thanks

Wouldn't you have to pay import tax seeing as that comes from the UK? That would work out about the same price I think.
Also, $90 seems like a lot, but you can use the shorts on a drysuit and a wetsuit. I think it would work out cheaper than buying a set of pockets for each suit, certainly...
Hi
Anyone use the scubapro Mk18 in very cold water? I understand it's a diaphragm rather than a piston. Is it any good? I think it's being phased out by the Mk25, but I have heard mixed reactions to the mk25.
cheers

As long as you get a good drill-bit designed to cut hard steel, and a reasonably powerful drill, the SS backplate should be no problem - shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to drill a set of holes that can be filed through to make a slot.

I don't have schematics or diagrams, but I cut two slots in my SS backplate because one pair of the slots already there did not match up to my pioneer wing.
I just attached the wing, then used a marker pen through the slot holes of the wing to draw where the holes should go.
I used a good...
I think that is an excellent idea. Doesn't anyone else?
Especially if you use your wetsuit for other things like surfing - then you don't have attached pockets to get in the way.

Hi
Does anyone know if the OMS aluminum backplate camband slots line up with the halcyon pioneer camband slots?
I had to cut two extra slots in my steel backplate because the ones provided didn't line up. :upset:

Don't bother undoing anything. Just put your wetsuit underneath, towels and clothes on top, and underwear/socks down the sides so it's competely covered. If anything gets through that then it won't make any difference how you packed it.
Of course, you could always wear the whole thing on...
Here in the UK we are the great undecided.
No-one can really decide between the 40lb wing, which seems to have too much buoyancy, and the 30lb wing, which seems to have possibly-just-enough-but-perhaps-not. These questions fly around the forums every now and then. So...
Has anyone compared...
He mentioned a thick wetsuit.
This will require more weight to sink, and to be neutral at 10ft or whatever, but at depth most of the buoyancy will be lost due to suit compression. Since you're using more weight, you need more lift to compensate.
To be honest, if you need a thick wetsuit...
