Dont think you will be able to tell. Your eyes are much more sensitive to colors then any camera. Things may still look red at deeper depths. Personaly I would just spend the $80 and get the LCD bacpac. Not only will you be able to see if the video is turning to the red spectrum of the scale...

I put some screen protector on the back of LCD back door so it wont get scratched up. Keep the view of the LCD nice and clean looking.

If gopro was thinking in the right mind set they would use the same tooling for the lens cap and make filters for blue and green water use. All they would have to find out is the correct color... Which isn't hard.

It will save the last video. So if its recording and dies it saves the video first then shuts down. File corruption I have not happened before.
