Personally I like Under Water Sports, Seattle

I always get short fills at the Edmonds UWS... even if I leave the tanks while I go to the park and dive. Though I haven't had them filled there for almost a year probably, since I don't like short fills I haven't given them a chance. gomi_

    Backup light review

I had reason to hand off my OMS Vega to my buddy last night- it has startlingly good liht output, and I was using my Sartek 10w can light- very comparable, we were night diving and it worked great for the remainder of our dive. And yes, we were on the way back in at that point, so were in...

    Ballistic Dive HID Canister Lights

I like the lifetime warranty- wonder what all it covers. Odd to see a shiny metal canister though. gomi_

    Fresh water coral?

I like that I found this same question on Yahoo's Ask website, and someone in Minnesota claimed that there is a "dead reef" in the lake he regularly dives in. Well duh- MN used to be covered with salt water, I have plenty of coral samples from the banks of the Mississippi river. But they are...

    Strobes wich to choose

Do you mean a tank marker, or a strobe to mark entry point/anchor or similar? IMO, strobes are OK for a location marker, like to mark the entry point in murky water, but bad for tank/buddy markers. Nobody wants a flashing light in their peripheral vision. I'd do a search for "tank marker...

Too bad you don't have the superpower of night/underwater vision! gomi_

How long should it take for a quote?

Odd that someone who just joined Scubaboard would go the the Manufacturer section and post in the area of the Manufacturer that he didn't go with...on one of his first 4 posts to the board. gomi_

    arrrggg descisions decisions

I'd say you are going too far in-depth with your plans for a back-up. A backup is just that, you switch to it if your primary fails, and it allows you to thumb the dive safely with enough light. It's not generally intended as a "second primary" so you can continue the dive, especially a night...

Dive planning: Edmonds UWP current limits?

EUP is pretty sheltered by the Ferry dock. If you encounter current, it's pretty manageable. I'd say tide height is a limiting factor, if it's not more than 4-5 feet then you'll be walking halfway to the outer border. You don't want to have to dig a hole to hit 30 feet. check out the UWS...

    Goodman Handle for LC 100Hid

I would say that it is too heavy for a goodman handle- all the batteries are in the body, and even though you are underwater, you are still balancing all that weight on your hand. I carried one for 20 dives, I know the weight! A regular can light head is pretty inconsequential in the weight...

Looking to get 1st canister light...Help!

I've got a Sartek 10w with the mini (not micro) battery pack, 4.5 LiIon. It's brighter than everybody I dive with who doesn't have a can light, and I thought it was pretty nice until some scooter guys showed up behind me with a 35W and turned the seafloor into a surgical suite with their...

    Backuplight

OOps! I misread the website, I thought it meant that the base PT was $138, and the LED upgrade was an additional $49! gomi_

    Backuplight

OOF! $190 for the PT with the LEd upgrade kit, and you say the Halcyon is expensive in comparison? I just bought two OMS Vegas from Scubatoys, got the discount, and paid less than $150 total with shipping. Yeah, they use CR123A batteries, but since you're not burning your backup all the time...

    Check valve on snorkel

The purge valve is pretty basic- if you took a flat piece of rigid material, and wanted to add a one way valve, do the following- Draw a circle Bisect it with a horizontal and a vertical line Cut out within the boundaries of the quarter sections that you just drew, leaving the cross lines...

    Opening stuck Light Cannon?

    Li-Ion batteries

Thanks CD. I guess $30 for four batteries that I will hopefully never have to use is too much when someone just mentioned that CR123s can be had for pretty damn cheap ($1 apeice for regular batteries, I wonder how much OMS is asking for their extra-special ones). I'll save my money. gomi_
