    Do you wear a snorkel?

You may find this interesting. I was taught to wear one in OW (probably like everyone else), used it for my first dozen dives, learned at SB that I won't get a ticket if I don't use it, and from then on didn't use it. Earlier this summer I took a SSI Deep Diver class (recreational) from...

    My new DiveLog.

I'm very impressed! All this in Excel. Kudos to the wifey! Since you offered, I think I may even use it, thank you. I'm glad you included the Excel file in case I want to make a small change. Congrats again.

    Spring Straps for OMS Slipstream

Just got the OMS spring straps, only used them once, with gloves, and I also agree with what ghost runner said. I think a big thing is to get the right size.

    What do you all think???

. This is an old argument so I don't expect to change anyone's mind, but here's my take. Why blur the background? Why are some photos a black and white? What about the decision how to crop or the color tone or even sharpness? The point I'm trying to make is, you take a photo because...

Do you dive with a backup mask?

Not in easy Carribean dives, but because of another thread on this topic here a while ago, I'm going to take a spare with me where even though the dives are at recreational depth, it's a good idea to find the upline, read your gauges, and to do a safety stop.

    What do you all think???

With something like this, after fixing the green tint and decreasing the sharpness and whatnot, I would cheat a little. I would decrease the distance between the two fish (not sure how much, maybe 1/2), and i would offset them more from the background --now you have green fish on a green...

    bags and knives for class

Just making converstation - I signed up for a Deep diving course (SSI) and I'm reading the list of mandatory and suggested equipment and have a few random questions. I will talk to the instructor of course, but I wanted to also hear what you thought. Suggested Backup knife . Is the backup...

Bare 7mm Arctic Full Mens Suit reviews

Depending on your diving, you may not need any extra thermal protection. I have a new Arctic (only a few dives on it), but was quite comfy last fall at 58 degrees and 80 feet in Long Island. -- get it in black. I can't speak to quality as it is my first 7mm.

Sarting a Dive Op... a candid discussion.

Wow! What a great story, and you tell it very well. Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm fan of your father. So far the narative is pretty non-judgemental. I'm curious to know if you felt you were treated fairly (financially) considering you single-handedly saved their business. I...

Welcome back. Thanks for the pics. I especially like the last one. But do you think it could better if it were lightened up some?

    Cold Water Diving Skills

One for me is avoiding heat sickness. The air is hot, but the long boat ride, all the protection, and a crowded boat ... you have to think about it and suit up quickly.

    Scuba book suggestions

Not a book, but I'm thrilled with my new subscription to Fathoms Magazine. The quality of the writing is excellent and is matched by the quality of the photos. It comes out 4 times/year. http://www.fathomsmagazine.com/

Diving with Subway but staying in Westend

I asked Subway your question about how to stay in West End but dive with them and they said I'd have to get a ride to them (~ 20 minutes).

    A 40" hose

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know. Very helpful heads up on that. I"ll start hunting. Not seeing the relevance of your point here. I always turn to the 'board for advice before spending money, getting new gear, traveling, knowing which whiskey to drink, info about global climate...

    A 40" hose

I'm not seeing how this gets rid of the big loop formed with the normal 30" hose. Wouldn't this just form an even worse (larger) 40" loop? I'm picturing a hula hoop sticking out from my right side. Am I wrong?

    A 40" hose

I'm thinking of changing up my hose configuration and want to hear what you'all thingk - my gear is at the shop being serviced so the timing is good. Currently I dive a single tank (with a Pony) with regs in the common fashion the secondary in my mouth and the octo on a longer hose (36"?)...
