Inon 165 fisheye AD bad on S110, why o why?

I don't understand if the camera zoom is set at 35mm equivalent, why doesn't it work well?

    Wide angle lens options

Ridiculous that Inon did not make a provision for a red filter. Guys, I'd like to see some sample footage with the Inon GoPro dome kit and hear about your impressions.

Inon 165 fisheye AD bad on S110, why o why?

Results with my old Inon 165 AD fisheye are pretty awful with my S110 in a Nauticam housing (zoomed in to 35mm equiv.). Why is that? I was considering the Fix UWL-28; I've seen some decent sample photos with S100/110 (zoomed in to 28mm). Why does the Fix work and the Inon 165 not? So I...

Red Filter while using the lighting

I am using ur-pro from srp and auto WB. I find it fairly easy to correct shots with excessive pink hue in editing vs trying to correct for lack of red when not using filter. Having said that, I do remove the filter when shooting something like a frog fish or moray in a hole, etc.

    USS Tarpon 6/15/13

Great dive. Consider doing another edit converting the existing project to black and white. I think it might turn out quite nice.

    used GoPro a good investment?

Nobody enjoys watching head mounted u/w video. Unless you're penetrating a cave or wreck, keep the camera off your head. You also won't be able to tell if it's recording properly. GoPros are fiddly enough to control even when you can see what you're doing. Get a GoPole Grenade grip and attach it...

    Gopro hero 3 setup

Use whatever res you want. Higher res will allow you the option to crop during edits. Keep fps low at 30 to let more light in. Skip the filter to let in more light. Effect of filter beyond 80 feet is marginal at best unless water is super clear and the sun is out. Cheers.

Going crazy trying to decide/find free diving (or just powerful) fins.

If you're leading snorkeling tours then mares quattro powers are good. I can go pretty deep with them and they are great for long surface swims. I use the gara 2000 hf for scuba and deeper freedives. They are stiff and long surface swims are miserable. I'd prefer the standard mako fins for...

    Go pro hero 3

There is a separate gopro forum on scubaboard. Standard housing is rated to 200ft.

    Article: Destination Spotlight: Philippines

What a shameless plug. Reminds me of old SkinDiver Magazine articles. Just kidding, Atlantis is a great operator; resorts, training, and their liveaboard are all first rate.

DIY Modification for PolarPro filters to reduce Flare

I have a dive buddy using a polar pro who's been complaining about exactly this. I have forwarded your page to him. Thanks.

    Wide angle lens options

Yes it seems like the perfect solution. Crucially, it allows attachment of a color filter which the swiss dome housing does not. I expect a similar actual UW FOV of around 120-130 degrees. Will be nice for semi-static shots where there is not a lot of swimming and panning to shoot ambient...

    Wide angle lens options

The shape distortion of the pool tiles is a product of the flat port u/w and not present on land. Not to be confused with the inherent barrel distortion of the gopro lens. "Flat port should be used when angle of view does not exceed 60°. Using flat port with wider angles results in two types...

    Wide angle lens options

And I enjoy shooting whale sharks, schools of jacks + barracudas, mantas, large coral formations with as little water between myself and the subject from time to time, especially when visibility is less than optimal. Gopros are so compact you could easily dive with 2 on a single tray with...

    Wide angle lens options

A dome port would improve the quality and level of distortion at the edges besides returning the FOV to something closer to original FOV on land. Your own pool photo is a great demonstration of the shortcomings of a flat port on a wide angle lens. If no one liked the 170 or 127 FOV than why is...

    Wide angle lens options

Well, I don't think anyone would suggest using a inon 165, or any other wet lens on a gopro. The underwater comparison shots are interesting, tha ks for posting. As I said, fantasea big eyes are refractive wet domes, not lenses per se. The link is on my first post.

    Wide angle lens options

the fantasea bigeyes are not conventional wet lenses per se. They are refractive domes designed to be used on a flat port to restore original dry FOV, not increase it. At 67mm diameter mount I think it may work without vignetting. Edge distortion and sharpness when used with as wide a lens as...

    Wide angle lens options

It has a wide angle lens in a flat port. It HAS to be narrower in water. 90 degrees FOV sounds about right. Looks narrower than my old Nikonos 15mm lens with 94 degrees FOV. If someone like fantasea made a bigeye wet dome for the gopro to restore the FOV I'd certainly be interested. If they...
