Thanks for everyone who has responded so far. I'll keep holding out for 1.3cu bottles as I'm not in a hurry. Tho it makes sense when I say I have to carry this on my person when I fly, you can imagine a "big" bottle is not conducive when wearing a 5point seat belts (think auto-racing for...
Need them for potential water landing (ie ditching) in my 2 pax airplane, which is guaranteed to invert on the crash. Tell me what you have; 1.7cu 3000psi units are preferred, tho I wont pass up a good deal. Requisite fill attachments included please..
I'd like to add a small steak or paring knife on my inflator, but can't quite figure out a sheath for it. I have a BFK on my lower leg, but its way overkill except when the sharks are sniffing around during lionfish hunts. Carry a trilobite and scissors, so the inflator knife would be just a...
A purposely "wet" dry suit is just a semi-dry. Already been invented. But since there are no scuba police, anyone is free to do anything they like as long as its only themselves at risk.
I didn't read all the posts in this, so I'll just add my .02 and if its repetitive, I'll apologize in advance.
There's alot of fret about the swimming parts etc as requirements to pass, but IMHO if you were comfortable with everything that you had to do in rescue class - esp the physical stuff...
Another thought about this for your consideration: when I'm viping tanks, if the tank has customer paint on it (and its always obvious), I take a magnifying glass to the tanks looking for dings and deep scratches that the customer is trying to hide - usually from a failed vip. I also get take...
Leave it alone. How pretty your pony bottle is on the outside is of no consequence to your ability to dive or to the gas on the inside. Go mow the lawn or do something more useful with your time (like diving!).
So I came across the Cressi Diver 5mil front zip. Cressi Scuba Diving Diving Wear 5 7 mm neoprene suit front zip diving scuba rental school tempered water man
Cressi catalog only pictures the 7mil with the hood; the five doesn't have the hood and the zip is vertical neck to crotch, not angled...
Yeah sorry. My bad. Its the standard octo hose length, which is always longer than the primary hose - and in our case yellow in color. Not a 7' hose ala tech.
Ah thanks guys for the responses - they are at least something to look at. The Xcels though are all chest zip - front zips are vertical, neck to crotch, similar to how backzips are.....
My wife and I dive our ponys with bright yellow octos as the reg, mounted in the chest triangle just like OW training teaches - easy for anyone to take if they need to - long hose and the whole pony and reg combo are underwater detachable/donatable if need be. Pony is a 30cu, upside down, back...
I love my Mares Origin 5mil front zip but its way old and its time for new. But in the US market, I can't get the Mares front zip Pioneer (successor to the Origin) - its a EU stock item only and noone will ship stateside. Apart from the Henderson 3mil, are there any other front zips...
I have an Origin5 that I diver everywhere and all kinds of water. The front zip allows me max flexibility in water temps from the high 80's to the low 70s - just zip or unzip as the case may be. Not sure why front zips aren't more popular because of this. In anycase, its time to relegate it...
Honestly, after joining, I can't remember ever reading anything worth while in the solo section anyway. But then I haven't been around here much in the last 6 mos.
Seen by all and join if you want to contribute - seems to work for the rest of the internet.
There is no doubt that the Dixie Arrow always produces. I've had several dives on it and its top notch. Not sure exactly why that is the case, but 9 out of 10 dives its a 10/10 dive for the Atlantic - fish, sharks, bait swarms, barracuda, and the lone Goliath that inhabits that area. Never a...
