Lots of easy shore diving here. The locals wear felt-bottom boots to deal with slippery concrete steps. Most of my diving is shore diving. Lots of places to dive without any surface swims.

Thanks for letting me know. That would explain why I couldn't find any recent information. Who is maintaining the PB Locke buoy now? I will be back in the area for a few weeks and I am debating whether or not it is worth bringing my gear...

A guide certainly isn't required. The boats that I have been on here in Okinawa (the ones that cater to the military divers instead of tourists) don't provide guides. I was by myself so I got paired up with some randos.

I'd just go with your lightest fins then. The weather will be warm so you really don't need too much for clothing ;) Unless you are here on business of course. I know that North of Nago has loaner SMBs but that really wouldn't save much weight by not bringing your own.

Many of the charters only go out on the weekends (certainly the case with North of Nago). Of course the military will have July 4th off so you shouldn't have a problem - just make sure you reserve plenty in advance. As far as diving the Emmons, you will certainly need a rental car to get up...

Can anyone tell me if this club still exists? The only information I can see is connected to the PB Locke and the club taking over the PB Locke buoy a few years ago. TIA

How often do you dive at Toby? I have always been interested in diving there and have been looking at options. Wondering if I should find a shop that has a trip there, walk on, or what... Any advice appreciated :)
