Well, that's possible but I've never seen it on any other site and I use chrome a lot.

    Too Many redirects

Hi, I'm getting that error message when I try to open ScubaBoard - Scuba Diving Forum - Diving Social Network - ScubaBoard Home from Chrome. It doesn't happen all the time. Chrome help said it's probably related to site cookies so I tried disabling automatic login but that didn't seem to...

How your rig has changed over the years

Heh Heh Heh In 1971 I got a NAUI cert. I had a steel tank w/straps (iirc, 72 but that WAS 42 years ago), J valve, voit regulator, weights, fins, mask and snorkel. No wetsuit, no spg, no octo, no lp inflator, heck no BC. No depth gauge. No computer. No release forms. I hated that J valve...

    how to be Neutral Buoyancy?

Being a newbie, I am working on my bouyancy too. One thing that caught me on a dive was that I didn't fully empty my BCD when swimming up to my SS and as the air in the BCD expanded it made me positively bouyant. It didn't happen all at once but I didn't realize it until I was cruising towards...

Thumbs up to Anthony's Key Resort

Yes, the reviews are contradictory but more information is better. As you read them you can see a pattern. I generally ignore the reviews from one-time reviewers and the insanely enthusiastic. The negative ones are valuable as you generally hear specific situations. I take the negative ones...

Thumbs up to Anthony's Key Resort

Thanks. I've traveled enough to know that there are always some reviewers that have to trash even the best places. But still you can get a sense of what kind of issues there are. A few negatives don't rule a place out in my mind. It looks like a fair percentage the dive complaints came from...

Thumbs up to Anthony's Key Resort

On a non-dolphin note, tripadvisor's reviews have a number negative comments about AKRs dive operation: shoddy dive equipment, disinterested DMs and high diver to DM ratio (12:1 in one case). I didn't see anything like that on scuba board so was wondering if it was a reality or a small number...

Room recommendations at Anthony's Key Resort?

Trip Advisor is a great resource for this specific information. There are quite a few comments in the reviews and there is a link that summarizes all the room advice. Some of it is contradictory but I'm of the view more information is good.

Funniest Diving quotes you have heard

No, I was completely surprised when he said something that indicated he was concerned about the effect of pressure on the heart - he seemed to think that inside the heart would be at a lower pressure than outside it. I explained the concept of ambient pressure to him but don't think it took...

    strategy for gaining skills

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, lots of good points. As to my desired level of skill. I'm never going to be a "pro", no interest in it. I want to be able to dive with confidence in most conditions as well as know when I shouldn't get in the water. I want to do UW photography and video so...

Funniest Diving quotes you have heard

So, I hadn't dived in decades and wanted to get recertified. PADI application said I needed to get a doctor's permission. Now, I'm a very healthy 59 YO but my doctor is a fricking nervous nellie. Conversation went like this: me: Hey, I want to take a SCUBA class, would you please sign this...

True Dat. I've been looking at trips based on distance. Hawaii and Cabo clearly are the closest (with direct flights). The Caribbean is closer than the east pacific region, though.

    strategy for gaining skills

Glad it meant something to you. Good to see it's had a pay it forward effect. My GF and I finished our PADI OW cert in Kihei, HI. Pretty good. There is a sunken boat there we dived on (part of a feeble attempt at a reef) that was pretty cool and Molokini, while kind of cliche', was really...

    strategy for gaining skills

@PeteNBiddle, well, yes it would be. some names just never really go away... I took a scuba refresher course from SeattleScuba. It was good because my last round of diving was with, uh, vintage equipment. I don't recall the price but it was well less than the full OW cert course. I think...

    strategy for gaining skills

Edit: I have no idea why I'm getting all my separate responses jammed into one post. sigh... That's in line with my thinking. Because of commitments, I am only able to do a week at a time but that's still pretty good. ---------- Post added February 9th, 2013 at 12:05 PM ----------...

    strategy for gaining skills

I'm a recently OW certified diver and my goal is to gain enough skills to enjoy scuba trips to places like Cocos Island, Galapagos, Truk, Socorro, Belize and similar. I want to build up the skills necessary to make those kind of dives fun and easy. I'm not there yet. Would like to get your...

    Nitrox Question

I believe that this is one of those apples to oranges questions. Does the course include dives? It looks like PADI doesn't require dives as part of that course so the lower priced ones probably don't include the dives. A good idea to understand whether you are getting a good deal in anything...

    Storing diving gear

Thanks. I'm not sure we will be staying BC. This part isn't thought out yet. Though perhaps it makes sense to plan BC for the night before departure. I have stored stuff at hotels with no problem but know several people that have had their bags ransacked in other places in the world.

    Storing diving gear

I'm planning a trip to Belize later this year and, in order to cater to non-divers, we'd like to do some non-diving touring. However, I don't want to haul our diving gear around. Are there any safe places to store this stuff while we go elsewhere? Probably in Belize City...

Constructing a cheap UW video light...

Hi Guba, great design. Where did you get the LED array? Also, you said no piercings of the housing - how are the clips held to the housing? How warm does your unit get?
