    Beware Sunset Waters Beach Resort

Sadly, it's my understanding that Sunset Divers (shop owners originally based out of Colorado), got the hardest shafting by Sunset Waters. They haven't been paid since March.

    Beware Sunset Waters Beach Resort

We originally booked via Cardonna Dive. My stomach hit the floor when I got the e-mail on my Blackberry with the subject line "Sunset Waters/Sunset Divers CLOSED". I dropped everything, synced up my laptop, got online a downloaded the full e-mail. We were originally booked for 3, from 9/17 -...

Sunset Waters Resort on Curacao is Permanently Closed

Sunset Divers is also closed. They stopped receiving payment for their services in March '09 by the hotel. Lynn is packing up now. Not sure where she's headed or if she landed another job on the island yet. Tragic. They were a great dive Op.

    Curacao

Green Flash... We stayed there last year in August, and will be returning this coming September. I believe you tagged another post which was a full review from April... it was truly an excellent synopsis. My bride & I stayed in an Ocean Front Junior Suite. It was nice. We had the...

    Curacao must-dive sites?

We stayed at Sunset Waters... and didn't really need to leave the resort (dive package included). Sunset Divers was awesome & very professional. Some of my favorite dives: Watamula, Mushroom Forest, Porta Marie, & Hell's Corner. You can dive quite a few places from shore, but when the...

    Curacao - small dive operator

I second (or third) the Sunset Divers suggestion. It really depends what time of year you go (high or low season). My wife & I just returned from our August trip. We intentionally planned our last day as a Sunday, knowing it's the 'turnaround day.' We were fortunate enough to spend our...

    Curacao Sunset Waters 8/15-23rd

Hi indyandrea... I have to say, the diving was the best I've ever seen. The resort is clean, and the staff is very friendly. I discovered that some residents are a little shy at first, but after a few warm hellos or hola's, they warm up quickly and really enjoy seeing you each day. The food was...

    Bonica HDV

Any info or input on the Bonica HDDV? It is advertised to shoot up to 720p. Very tiny, convenient, very reasonable price, any catches or bugs folks have heard of? The whole package runs for less than upgrading to a HD camera alone (nevermind the $4000 housing). All input welcome. B

    Curacao Sunset Waters 8/15-23rd

:scubadive mkimber, Carie & I will be at Sunset Waters from 8.23 to 8.31 for our long awaited honeymoon. We'll probably see you on a dive boat. Look for the pair of Zeagle (ranger & tech) BCs.

    2006 NCWD Diving

Pat, you forgot to mention that Aquatic Safaris is the only game in town, now that Bottom Time closed down & Captain Charlie (Dive Buddy) sold his boat. With only AS & CFD running charters, I've got a sinking feeling our little town is going to be a bit overbooked this season. So much so I...

Solo Dive on the “Spiegle Grove” on a jet ski!!!

Amen on the above. Av8er... still not sure what part you take issue with. Was it that he was solo diving? True some opinions frown upon it, others don't. Was it that he was jetski diving? Not all the safest, but still doable. Or was it that it was in a "remote" area which to the contrary is...

Solo Dive on the “Spiegle Grove” on a jet ski!!!

I third the notion... proper gear s/u & experience, all for it. But what if someone car-jacks his jetski? That's a long swim.

    weighting "ball park" figure

Gomi, First & foremost, I suggest the Advanced OW Peak Performance Buoyancy course. Depending on the Jacket style BC you used the Wing setup it sounds like you intend to use is going to be a world of difference. The jacket & backpack standard bc's are fairly neutral. I'm not sure what type...

    Sharks

This is a fun post. I've been 'blessed' with sharing many encounters with a few local sharks. Most are sand tigers, sand, bull, & hammer heads. I did see a large Tiger shark once. Some encounters were from above water on a surfboard, most below water with the sharks. My experience is as...

    Wetsuit question

Lisa, diving with or without the suit is totally dependent on the dive & conditions. One major bonus of a wetsuit however is its inherent buoyancy. If involved in a rescue (rescuer, assistant, or or even victim) it greatly assists. Opt for a suit that best suits your current needs...

    Solo tech diving article

Wow. My Mac was down for the count after Hurricane Ophelia... so I had ALOT of reading to catch up on. Again... WOW. SO much info in this thread.. and so much of it useful. I'm not about to add my 2 bits... because there's already a million bucks worth of info. But... it did remind me...

Hurricane check in - how is everyone doing?

How sad is this...that I'm replying a month late... Well, I'M FINE, our boats are fine... but my power supply on my Mac took a dump. Possibly a surge? Who knows... replaced it & it popped again. So I opted to just replace it with a new G4. So... yeah, I'm back online...finally! -Bobby

Hurricane check in - how is everyone doing?

So far so good here in Wilmington. Hey, I'm online at 11pm... so that means we still have power (I expect to be in the dark in a few hours). Wilmington's never been much for keeping power in winds over 35 mph. Tied off both the dive boat & the personal boat this weekend. Took in the...

NC Scuba Geocache: Bluestone Diver - Road to the Abyss

Grier... How funny is it, that I stumbled upon your Geocache by accident a few months ago. I wasn't sure what it was, but had a clue from your posting a while back. Red DAN Nalgene bottle, right? I didn't take the liberty of signing, as I didn't find it on purpose... but just wanted to...
