    Diving Sunday?

Ah I understand. Don't quote me but I think it opened on October 15th. Check the DEM website. Or I can check it out on the sign when I am there tonight.

    Diving Sunday?

Ft. Getty closed during the first weekdn in October. All that means is that the campers are gone and there is no admission charge. There are no gates or anything like that. I walk my dog there most every night. The diving there is not that great though, unless you are diving for quohoags.

    The Belleville 9/29/06

Chris It looks like this Saturday is going to be a copy of last Sunday, lots of wind. So hopefully Sunday will be better and we can give the Grecian a go.

You could try Ft Wetherill in Jamestown which is next to Newport. But, as Dennis said, it is going to pretty much be a blowout this weekend.

Dive Report: L-8 and Black Point (9-17-06)

There is only one requirement: you have to pray that the weather is like it was yesterday! If only they could all be like that.

Dive Report: L-8 and Black Point (9-17-06)

Chris That is exceptional vis for the L-8. I have only seen better than a few feet there, once. We ran to the Larchmont yesterday and had similar visibility (albeit dark). Then we went just 4 miles back to the east to dive an unknown wreck nicknamed the "Winch Wreck" and the vis was awful, 3'...

    RI Anti Sport Diver Position

I am in total agreement. With every point you made. I just wanted to post this to see what other peoples' feelings on the subject are. Personally it makes my blood boil! I have been on 3 of these wrecks. Being a history nut, I really enjoy the sites. However, the average diver who is not into...

    RI Anti Sport Diver Position

You hit it on the nailhead scubasarus! The real joke about it is that 2 of the four wrecksites (Ballast Piles) that they "Discovered" had already been discovered by Sport Divers and have been dived for many years (I being one of them).

http://www.crmc.ri.gov/news/2006may26_sunken.html Fo those of you who enjoy diving in Rhode Island, more specifically thise who might enjoy a splash in the Newport Harbor area should read this attached article. In the past I have mentioned the state's hostile attitude toward Wreck Divers...

    There goes the weekend!

Yup, we are going to upstate NY to Herkimer Diamond mine to break rocks. We are going to try to salvage Monday by doing some fishing inside the Bay.

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

I hear you. We are going to head up to Herkimer NY to break rocks and find Herkimer Diamonds. Hey that woman Marcie. Is her last name Bilinski?

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

I just checked the forecast. It looks like we are shut out until Monday at best. Srong Easterlies and anywhere from 4-10 ft seas. This is getting tiresome! It's kind of like the crap we had through the month of June.

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

Thanks Dennis I appreciate it. What do you think this Hurricane is goin to do? We are planning on a trip to the Dwight and Ardandhu this weekend.

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

Darn! We could have tried that, we were already on the cape.

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

No, there are not. In the past we would have gone up and done one of the Frigates or transpots in the bay as a muck dive. But, with the Hostile environment that exists between the Sport Diving community and the local Archaeology zealots, it's just not worth the hassle. If you dive them, they...

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

Chris There is another barge in the Harbor of refuge that makes for a good "blowout" spot. It is right in the middle of the "U" formed by the center wall. If you look on a chart you will see a wreck symbol. It is a square barge about 80' long in 25' of water.

    Neptune or bust . . . Bust!

Dennis we did about as well as you. The weather looked lousy for Saturday but the forecast was for NE winds so we took my friend Al's boat down to Falmouth. We thought that the cape would block the breeze and we could dive the Port Hunter. Well, when we cleared Green Pond the wind was really...
