Viking Extreme wrist seals: Replacement questions

Done and done, thanks for the reminder. Still interested in any tips.

Viking Extreme wrist seals: Replacement questions

I cleverly arranged to tear a wrist seal at some point, and the small tear grows larger every dive, so I guess it's time to replace it. Any special techniques needed for this suit? My plan is to find some sort of mandrel that fits snugly into the arm, remove old seal, clean with something...

    Mixing & Matching Regulators...

That's only for the Jetstream/Cyclon firsts, though, right? I'm pretty sure the XStream first is OK with non-Poseidon seconds (I'm using a non-Poseidon 2nd as a backup now).

    Stupid Question

Way to go jerk, you made me spit water all over a new laptop :D Duly forwarded to the Dive Safety officer at work.

    Prefab wheelhouse manufacturers?

That's the one. Thanks a lot!

    Prefab wheelhouse manufacturers?

In whatever the latest issue (well, every issue, really) of Boats and Harbors is, there's an ad for a manufacturer of prefab wheelhouses that you can slap on a bare hull. Anyone happen to know the name/website of companies like this? There are at least two that I know of. Just can't remember...

    Advice on weights for Transpac

I have an older version of the Transweight. It works pretty well, but the pockets are fairly large, so they take up a fair amount of real-estate on the waist strap. I've only had a max of 6lbs in each side (using a standard weight belt for the rest) but I've never had any unwanted dumping. The...

    Bare Cuff Rings...drygloves...numb wrists

It may indeed be because of the undergarment getting pinched weirdly or something. My fiance had a similar problem with her skin underneath a tight-fitting wetsuit. She pulled the cuffs of the skin up her forearm and the problem went away. YMMV of course.

OMS Travel Wing / OXYCHEQ Sig 30 #

I have a Oxycheq Sig 45#, which I think is almost identical in design as the 30# (except more lift, obviously). It's a very rugged wing, the inflator hose seems to be a good length (surprisingly short compared to a BC), and it packs down into a pretty small package. The only thing I'm not liking...

3mm wetsuit under TLS drysuit - wonderful

I have a friend who had a very leaky Viking, and wore his surfing 3mm under it for awhile. Said it was nice. I've pondered the same thing. Though hopefully without the leaking drysuit part.

About to buy BP+Wings - opinions sought.

Well, if it helps, I have a Signature 45# and it is indeed rugged as hell. It'll probably outlive me.

    Getting out of wrist seals

Just got a new pair of wrist seals put on my Viking Xtreme, and I was wondering about the easiest (on the diver and the seals) way to get them off my wrists. I have no desire to rip another seals. So how do you all do it? I've heard of the KY trick, a friend of mine says he pulls open the seal...

Some of The Coolest Stuff You've Seen Shallow

Never had any exotic tropical encounters, but last year I watched an army of green crabs decimate the cultured winter flounder that I had helped raise and we were trying to release from cages. Cool in a frustrating way I guess.

    I did something stupid...

Well, not so much a "dunk tank" as much as me filling my gear box up with fresh water, then taking my BC out and noticing my reg was in there, then taking it out. So not AS much salt as a "normal" dunk tank on a charter or something. Used the reg today, on a shallow but longish dive, and...

    Drysuit undergarments: Viking or DC?

Yep, talc. Stuff happens, I guess. It's ok, though, the seals that are on there arent' stock, they're some sort of weird extra long seals. So normal ones might actually be better. And it turns out a guy I work with might have some old old Scubapro (!) stuff that came with his Viking years ago...

    Drysuit undergarments: Viking or DC?

Cool, thanks for the new option. Got another month to ponder things. And to replace my wrist seals. Sigh.

    I did something stupid...

I did actually put it on a tank and purge it a few times. Breathed both my second stages, and they seemed fine. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks all. Oh, and no, I don't have a DIN plug, the reg came with a dust cap, but it's not threaded or anything, it just slides over the threads, so it's...

    I did something stupid...

So, the other day when rinsing my gear I had a momentary brain fart and soaked the first stage in the dunk tank...minus a cap. It's a DIN first stage, a fairly new Poseidon XStream. Usually I put my thumb over the inlet and swish it a few times, and things are fine. So, how screwed am I? Think...

    Drysuit undergarments: Viking or DC?

Hmm, alrighty, another option, then. I already have some poly-pro undies, I'll look into that Spiez suit. Having trouble finding it online though. Some retailers have a section marked "Workwear" but don't have that in it. Perhaps I suck at the internet, I'll look some more.

    Drysuit Undies on the cheap...

I have the Cold Gear mock T (sans the zipper) and it's nice for athletic stuff (XC skiing, running, etc) in the cold. Might be a nice baselayer for underneath something like Darin posted. I get cold easily, so wouldn't be enough on its own for me.
