Port is brand new and I'll entertain any reasonable offer. This port retails for around $450. BTW, it comes with the focus gear for manual focus of the 50mm lens.
Yes. Even though I found a way to make the normal zoom ring for the 14-42mm work, I hardly ever took it off 9mm when I was dinking around in the pool. I suspect it will be that way diving as well. It would be tough to tell about corner sharpness from the photo I posted. I might have to get back...
Spare sea&sea fiber optic lugs fit into the holes nicely and hold well. I got spares from here http://www.fun-in.com.tw/catalog/index.php?language=en The standard thread on the tripod screws works fine. I would use more than one as suggested above. I would setup your rig for center focus. A...
Sorry for the overdose of ugly :D I went through my pool photos with the 9-18mm inside the standard flat port and there really wasn't any good shots to determine corner sharpness. Not that I would have a dome to compare it against anyway but here's a self portrait. I would say that the worst...
Hey Skip,
Well I don't do a great deal of diving and I care for my housing so I'm not sure if I'm qualified to answer the durability question. I've had no issues with housing and setup since purchasing it last July and diving with it on 3 separate occasions including my latest trip in...
I've actually been so brazen as to place the 9-18 inside the PPO-E05 flat port. It has no issues whatsoever and will fit in their nicely. The only small issue is getting the zoom gear in the right place but with a little practice it works fine. I'm sure the optics aren't as wide but it would be...
Hi Ardy,
Check out Andy's use of the 1.4...I'll also link mine below but think Andy's Photos are a little sharper due to me getting carried away with my new extended aperture range...heh. Welcome to DigitalDiver.net!
Bonaire - a set on Flickr
Ardy,
1/125 - 1/180th is where the camera should live with the 50mm IMO. As Jack stated, and it is true with any lens, the mid-point of your f-stop will be the sharpest point. So f13-f16 is a great place to keep the 50mm lens. BTW, even though I knew this in Bonaire I got a little...
Funny thing...while in a pool I fit the 9-18 inside the standard PT-E05 flat port and I used the zoom gear for the 14-42. I was amazed that it worked with no vignetting. Now its not going to give you the best picture through a flat port, but I was amazed nonetheless.
Panasonic makes a nice P&S however
continuous AF is not a new feature. Its been available for several years on some models. Its benefit is somewhat dubious in actual practice. Consumes battery, sometimes it will increase lag time as it "hunts" for a focus lock. I have always found that halfway...
There are newer P&S cameras that are fairly fast. The Canon G9, G10 both are pretty quick. I suggest you take a look at Digital Camera Reviews and News: Digital Photography Review: Forums, Glossary, FAQ at several different P&S. It should give you a pretty good idea about shutter delay on newer...
You might add Oly to the housing list as well since many of the Oly guys are probably using that housing as well. I'm surprised to see that Oly has half the number of Canon in your list.
You can have my Inons when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers. Seriously, this strobe is small, compact and packs a punch. I've always thought the battery cover was identical to Sea&Sea and it is transparent so its easy to see if the oring is in correctly. I purchased from this guy and had...
