XTAR dive lights review by @AbyssTek Divers

I have used XTAR lights for several years now but can no longer recommend them. I started with the original d26 1100 lumen light and it has been great and still works. I moved up to the D26 1600 but that light didn't last long due to switch and or spring issues. It would not work consistently...

    SC Divers?

We have an active dive community in Augusta. We do weekly dives at Lake Thurmond, East Dam. In the warmer months we do a deep and shallow dive each day. In the winter, we usually do just one dive a day (deep dive to around 100' sometimes, other days around 80'. Folks are welcome to join us...

Emotional support critter needed? (Maybe this should be in humor)

Is the a better option for the diver than a dog if you need an emotional support critter? Emotional support alligator visits senior home, is just like a dog, owner says

    Which wing to choose

Oxycheq Mach 5 fan here. 800 dives on it. Some 4000 dives total. Some minor fading, but I figure it will eventually look like my faded jeans before it wears out lol . I just love the streamlined design of the wing.

    Looking for a advice on a BP/W

So I've been diving a Oxycheq Mach V for several years for single steel tanks. Love it. I have 800 dives on my wing (mostly freshwater) and it is still holding up with minor fading. I have a friend with the Halcyon wing and it seems made of less durable stuff to me. I've been diving wings for...

Lake Thurmond/ aka Clarks Hill report

Haven't been posting much here lately though I do weekly reports on the Facebook Page Divers of Augusta. This is a cool winter. Vis is 5-15' right now depending on your depth and location. We have been having some awesome dives. Fish life has been good. The Bluegill horde is still active though...

    Bare D6 pro drysuit undergarments

Bare D6 users, what undergarments are you using for 50F water? Also, how much additional weight did you have to add moving from a 7mm wetsuit to a Bare D6 (fresh water)? Thanks.

Just a few restaurant recommendations for Bonaire

We had an awesome week of diving... and eating :) . Mona Lisa, It rains Fishes, Capriccio, and Club Campagnie. OF course during the day, find Cactus Blue - usually at Bachelors Beach or near there for lunch - try the lionfish or a burger- awesome. For all restaurants in the evening, keep in mind...

Canon S 120 question - UW setting or external blue water filter

In shooting video with the S120 in an ikelite housing, do you get better color using the underwater setting or using auto or AV and an external bluewater filter for ocean dives?

Lake strom Thurmond/ Clarks hill water temp?

I think you would be fine. We had 60F today on the plane and ski boat. I would think that temps would be around the mid 60's by then on the plane. Keep in mind that the thermocline is usually right around the depth of the plane. It would be warmer just above the plane and on the rocks by...

    Cozumel recommendations please

You need to make a few decisions. For dive ops if diving AL 80s is fine and want to hit all the great South sites, Dive with Martin does this. If you need more air Aldora or living underwater is a good way to go (note: not once did my steel 120 have the working pressure of 3500 psi though...

How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

After I've personally had at least 8 fatal I would consider stopping diving. :) Not going to happen. Dive with them all the time. It's the snakes in my freshwater diving I worry about!! Forget Snakes on a Plane, in low vis diving when you run into a Copperhead what part of you body is closest...

What to expect from RX100 ii with minimal extra

Thanks for the answer, but I think I asked it poorly. Specifically am I giving up any access to features with the ikelite vs the recsea or nauticam. Also, I believe I read on one of your posts that you use a UW filter for video with the Sony R100ii. Does this work with the ikelite (enough room etc).

    How to reduce air consumption?

I don't think anyone has mentioned this one yet and I find that this is for many folks the primary reason for excessive air consumption - make SURE you are properly weighted. Many folks leave OW classes thinking "well they told me I needed 18 pounds of weight so that is what I use." Weighting...
