First Time Equipment Recommendations for Woman...

ScubaPro, Aqualung, Apex, Sherwood, Zeagle. In fact these days most of the top companies make great regulators and bc's as long as you are comparing products from the same range (ie low-end, mid-range, high-end). Most of the high-end regulators perform in a similar way with very little...

    Mares Nemo Excel

No surface interval display... first dive computer I've owned that does not display surface interval which I feel is rather stupid. It also only displays time in so you need to do a little maths. (check time in in the logbook, add dive time to time in to get time out and go from there)...

    Differences between PADI and SSI

If you are planning to travel around and work I'd go with PADI. Far more opportunities as a PADI DM/Instructor in various places around the world.

    Must do dives in Cuba

So we're planning a trip to Cuba, only 5 days or so with time for 1 two tank dive. If you could only do 1 dive in Cuba where would it be? Also which dive company would you recommend? Thanks, Andrew

    Becoming a Repair Tech--Who Pays?

I've had various different experiences all through the same shop. Some of the courses I needed to pay for, like ScubaPro, and others like Tusa and Poseidon were free... For the Tusa and Poseidon courses the people that did the courses even took us out for lunch which didn't cost me a dime...

    What BCD would you recommend?

Nothing wrong with ScubaPro or Zeagle... Personally I'd lean towards ScubaPro as I prefer the ScubaPro tank band strap to all other tank band straps. I also think ScubaPro makes a great power inflator and find the weight pockets work really well. Never lost mine yet they are really easy to...

Mares Nemo Sport vs. Nemo Excel?

Nemo Sport is plastic versus the stainless steel Nemo Excel. The Excel also has the ability to change many of the settings, ie Salt vs Fresh Water, Partial Pressure of O2 for Nitrox dives, switch between Imperial & Metric with ease. Also the Excel has Gauge Mode, so you can use your computer...

    Mares Nemo Excel

according to Mares you need to take the computer in to a Mares Authorised service center. I would say that you could take it back to the people you bought it from and they could arrange the battery replacement. You could also just send it to a Mares service center yourself. They claim the...

    Mares Nemo Excel

Rob, When I get out the water my computer displays the plane for the no-fly time and shows me my desaturation time. But no surface interval. Do you know if there are settings I am not seeing in the manual.

    Mares Nemo Excel

Thats great if you remember to look at the watch as you get out of the water. If you don't then... So far the only option I've found is to look at time in in the logbook, add the dive time to this time which gives you a time out and then... way to much maths Pain in the .... if you ask me...

    Mares Nemo Excel

First off this is an awesome looking computer. I've had it for a couple of days and nearly everyone I see has commented on how great it looks. It also have great features and just about everything can be set, changed or adjusted. The only issue I have at this point is I can't find the...

    Seaquest Balance vs Zeagle Stiletto

i would go for the balance. Only comment on the Zeagle is what I have seen. Haven't actually dived in one but it seems 90% of the people I see in Zeagles have buoyancy issues. Now this could be bad training but who knows... it seems a large majority of Zeagle owners I've seen seem to struggle...

Looking for information on fins for bad knees

ScubaPro Twin Speed. (you get a full foot and open heel version) The full foot version is great. Much lighter than the twin jet. Open heel version is also a lot lighter than the Twin Jet. However just about any light weight split fin will be good for bad knees. Mares Volos are also a good...

    Sandals resort in Antigua

I stayed at Sandals in St Lucia. Enjoyed the hotel but the diving was not great. Nothing wrong with diving in St Lucia but found the Sandals Dive people to be really disorganised. The diving was included in the price so I couldn't really complain. The dives were really short and if you...

Would you get rid of a Gekko?

If you have lots of money go for it. If not don't waste your money on a new computer. For the odd minute here or there I don't think the money loss is worthwhile especially with the amount of diving you're doing.
