Gonna date myself here but try to find TV series Sea Hunt .... old school and a little hokey but for it's time it was state of the art.
Like a lot of kids my age I grew up idolizing Lloyd Bridges
Any interest here for very lightly used 901 drysuit i'm selling for a student before i list it elsewhere? Will verify size but pretty sure it's an XL short. That is to say, max 48"chest, 5'-10 and 42 waist.
It's rear entry and in excellent shape. Barely used by student who decided cold...
Not all that unusual at all for that shoreline. A ways north of there check this out:
Manitou Passage Underwater Preserve
Specifically the Three Brothers. A sandbar washed away in 1996 exposing the wreck just off of South Manitou island. Knowing some of the parks people i was one of the...
It's been a bunch a years since we were there but i agree. The Elbow was nice, more a of blue water type dive as i recall but Half Moom Caye and Lighthouse reef were fantastic. Both more reef dives than than the elbow as i recall so it depends on what you like.
Jose Wejebe (host of Spanish...
Rockin it old school winter up here in Northern Michigan. We're nearly at our annual total of snow and we aren't even half way there yet. Yippee-ki-yaa!
For me the the worst of Coz is the proliferation of the cruise ship culture. When i first went to Coz you might see a couple cruise ship a week not bunches each day like it is now. It took a sleepy little carribean island and turned it into a commercial island.
Progress is what it is but...
About 12 years for me.
I was happy with my BOW cert until i caught the teaching bug. That's where (as DCBC has alluded to) the "Put Another Dollar In" syndrome kicked in. Not the worst way to go in my book, had lots of good times taking those classes but no doubt it was a business model...
Having been away for awhile and after reading this thread it's comforting to know that when it comes to SB, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Yep, i remember the good old days when you might see a couple cruise ships a week, not a half a dozen or more a day. I'm not anti cruise ship biz but it sure changed Coz for the worse. No bout adout it.
Too bad. Coz used to be such low crime place to visit. Cash and travelers checks were king and Cozumelians took great pride in being honest and helpful to us divers. I miss the old Cozumel.
I've been on all those wrecks many times over the years but it's been awhile so i'm not sure they are marked at all anymore. SN would know.
I don't think the barge or double ender were ever marked in an organized way. Maybe individual divers marked them from time to time with a Tide jug...
This thread reminds me of the first time i saw someone, someone i didn't know, diving in their birthday suit. It was in Coz. Some dude from another group made it a point to swim by us displaying his junk. Not swimming in a normal face down attitude but rather swimming on his side with his...
Looking to sell this again. Pictures aren't the best but let me know if you want to see something specific and i'll try to get it to you.
Same deal: $750 OBO
The "Internet" has a high curmudgeon factor. SB is generally tame by comparison IMO.
It's the Internet, by all means ask the question but consider the source carefully when you get an answer.
Rhone Man, post #31 nailed it.
Expecting what is posted on SB to mimic real life is about the same as believeing everything you read on the internet. While being a good general resource you still have to get out in the real world, not the electronic one, to figure out what is really going...
