    Dry Suit Course Questions

Weird, you say to initially use the suit for buoyancy and then proceed to give all the reasons why using your suit for buoyancy is not a good idea. Why not start out right? Don't use the suit for buoyancy control, period, diving will be easier. I used my suit for the longest time never...

Used the 13 cu-ft pony this weekend

If you just care about getting to the surface and you don't care in what shape you get there then yes sure by all means. My example was meant to illustrate that it take more than 13 or 19 ft^3 to do a proper* ascent from 90 - 100ft. After 15 - 20 min at around 100 ft, which is a pretty...

Used the 13 cu-ft pony this weekend

Once you start diving as a team instead of everyone for himself, the latter of which is unfortuneately very common in recreational diving, you'll find that the deeper recreational dives, i.e. say 90 ft+, require more gas than 13 or 19 ft^3 to get you AND your buddy to the surface in a...

Question about filling a tank with enriched air

Indeed. I randomly fill my tanks with air, nitrox, trimix depending on what the dive requires. It is nonsense that an O2 clean tank would have to be re-cleaned after filling it with clean air.

The anyone can dive attitude needs to change. Until agencies step away from wanting to certify as many people in as short a time as possible, we are going to have this problem. The standards need to be raised. I am very happy to see that at least one agency has done just that.

How can gas management EVER NOT be an important issue on ANY dive  Newly certified divers do dives to 60, 70, 80 feet, gas management IS an issue! Oh wait, once you start adding more 'complex' stuff to the class, like gas management, proper trim, proper kicks etc, you loose the...

Used the 13 cu-ft pony this weekend

Hm, I have both my stage cylinders set up with a short HP hose bungeed back on itself and a 2" SPG. Been like that for years and the hoses/SPG's havent leaked yet. The gauge part is unlikely to fail, if you are going to have an issue it will be in the regulator. Simplifying this by using a...

    Just finished PADI eLearning

The entire PADI curriculum (at least up to AI) does not address air management in any kind of useful way, e-learning or other wise. As far the advertising, when I did this 'update' I had to do to become current with PADI again, I did this online, it was a joke, 90% of it was 'how to get as many...

Question about filling a tank with enriched air

Part 1: I dont see any reason why you cant top off a tank that contains something other than air with air. My doubles alternately contain air, enriched air or trimix, no problems there. As long as the fill source is clean all should be ok. Part 2: Anytime you fill your tanks with something...

    Deep Air Diving - thoughts

Fuel cells are hardly idiotic. Fuel cells are not used to create hydrogen gas, they use hydrogen gas and oxygen to create electrical energy. The waste product is water. They are just about as clean as they come. However, they are not, as of yet, very efficient. And the other question is how much...

    Creation vs. Evolution

You obviously need to have another look at your physics text books. I'd suggest you look up the second law of thermodynamics and radiometric dating since you seem to lack understanding of these subjects.
