How to keep line on spool

Do it the DIR style and secure it to the periphery of the spool. http://www.aquanauts.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/295x295/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/d/i/dirzonespools.jpg

    Gavin Scooter DPV tube wanted

Bummer. I guess since he retired from the WKPP...too busy doing other stuff. I wonder if Cratos here on SB has any leads.

    Gavin Scooter DPV tube wanted

He can always contact George. He's very good about getting back to people on repair of Gavins. Good thing you didn't break the original grey nose cone. Those were made from a solid piece of PVC and when you break those - you're talking $$$$. Back in the day - used my Gavin for everything...

    "Contact Us" - no response

Thanks Doc. I checked the filters and the first response I got was 4 days ago...and today. I get all my other email responses when I reply on a thread. Thanks for working on it. Cheers X

    "Contact Us" - no response

Hey Guys, Have been a supporting member since 2005? This time around no supporting banner though funds have been collected. Tried the "Contact Us" at the top of the tool bar 3-4x times with no response. How do I get someone to change my support status??? Cheers X

    Diving to 200' and Beyond

In retrospect - not a great analogy as it doesn't really involve direct participation with an individual. That said - have seen solo divers bite it when I training students - and it becomes a very bad day for all. Also, a senior diver I knew and appreciated died on a deeper dive - so this...

    Diving to 200' and Beyond

I think an analogy is in order. Who would you prefer for a surgeon - a old time doctor using primitive techniques because she/he knew those techniques worked some odd 40 years ago? Or a well-schooled, US trained, up-to-date surgeon using the best tools and methods? Having done the deep air...

    Diving to 200' and Beyond

What's interesting is bit with age + assumed "diving wisdom." Old and stupid = young and stupid too. What's good is that she's doing it alone, but as mentioned in a previous post she'll ruin someone's day at some point. The good bit is perhaps she's doing what she likes irregardless. The...

    Diving to 200' and Beyond

68-70 yrs. of age(?) and she's filling her own mix, dubious backup gas and she emphasizes diving safely? Haven't seen it much in my experience. Oldest guy I saw in the US (NE) was a very fit cardiologist around 75-80 yrs. on air with old school equipment and technique. He didn't break 100'...

    Small creature ID help

I will say heavy has its benefits...here's a pic from ten + + years ago. Before that even bigger. Always needed someone to hand the camera over the side. Often times I had a camera tender for those difficult reverse shots + ward off the baddies. :D

    Nubble boots

I've used Yaktrax in Alaska for moderate horizontal ice / glacier treks. I would not use them on ice inclines with a full pack unless I had a ice axe, or other redundant safety device. Crampons for serious stuff. With slippery algae, a load of fumbley weight on your back and yet another piece...

Any good dive boats in NJ?

I've never had the chance to dive with these guys - but we did train the captain on rebreathers a while ago. Nice fella. I am pretty sure they run a tight boat. X http://www.deepexpeditions.com

    Nubble boots

Wow. This is a very good idea. I wonder if the company could take your idea and make a non-extruding, slightly recessed metal cleat which is built into the sole - thus accommodating a normal sized fin foot pocket? Thanks for sharing. I wonder if you could patent this idea? X

    Shore dive Long Island

Saw this older post - here's a good reference. Of course, diving off Long Island during the dead of winter = not so much fun. http://www.aquaexplorers.com/books_capt_berg_Long_Island_Shore.htm#.VqGHtsdllfg

    Rockport MA - Dec 24th

Where is the crab in the video? :D I saw the chewed up Laminaria stalks....seals? Always fun to see adventurous divers take on out-of-season dive videos. X

    Scallop dive 12/23/15 in Salem

Scallop sushi at Nobu goes for something like 30.00 bucks. A simple tempura is like 10.00 Your dad knows how to pick his spots. :) Yummmmm. X - wimp diver who goes to Whole Foods (Whole Paycheck) for his scallops

    Scallop dive 12/23/15 in Salem

Cool post. And nice haul of scallops. All I could think about was having a tiny bit of ground wasabi & soy sauce on deck to enjoy scallop sushi - fresher and more authentic than Nobu's. :D

Injured woman awarded 10,000 GBP for school negligence

In the UK - payouts are relatively low compared to the US. Sucks she only got 10K quid. In the US - she'd be looking at 6 figures. Or at the very least high 5's. I will also say that if you're a US citizen traveling abroad and doing some training - be alert to the fact that some of the steps...
