    1st trip Bonaire - luggage/gear/etc questions

Been to Bon twice so far and dive exclusively with Buddy Dive via the Dive Bus in Curacao. Three things here: 1. Take a knife or scissors. Be prepared. 2. You'll want a full suit - recommend minimum of 3mm. You'll be diving a lot and half way through you'll be thankful. 3. I've done...

NAUI Certification _after_ a PADI Certification?

Thank You TMHeimer and B Lo for your responses. To clarify, I am suggesting that I repeat the OW class offered by NAUI to get another perspective of the OW certification. I have 100+ dives in my log now and am becoming increasingly interested about gas theory and the overall physiology of...

NAUI Certification _after_ a PADI Certification?

I am certified by PADI with a Nitrox endorsement. I am wondering if a NAUI certification would be a good decision to get a different perspective and instruction on essential diving technique and principles? Has anyone done this? Is this recommended? Thanks for any and all feedback...

    Going to Curacao soon

Let Mark and Suzy handle the diving for you while you're on the rock. They're the bestest! Kura Hulanda in the city is very nice and easy walking distance to a number of restaurants. If you are there on a Thursday, don't miss the Asian buffet at Jaipur. Outstanding! Lodge KH is very, very...

Curacao bound in October any info?

Ron...recommend the following sites, listed in no particular order: On the Breezes end of the island: 1. Tug Boat 2. Lost Anchor 3. Car Pile/Pier Baii (next to Breezes) 4. Director's Bay (left and right) Since you are staying at Breezes, you should go next door and visit with the Dive Bus...

Charging electronics on Bonaire - just wing it huh?

Just back from Bon and didn't have a single issue. One diver in our party was a master electrician and indicated that most power adapters are rated to handle the fluctuation in voltage. He explained the matter to me using the language Herman provided above. Golden.

East or West side of Curacao?

Yes, just back from Bonaire with Mark and Suz...fantastic time. Highly recommend "The Bus" for all diving. If nothing else, take a cab to the "The Dive Hut" (The Bus' Headquarters) and dive Car Pile. Tug Boat is a great dive and especially easy to get in and out of. If you are relatively...

What did you buy that you regret?

I bought a pair of Henderson hard sole boots that have just wrecked my toes on the left foot. I dived with the boots on a trip to Curacao with no issues but my most recent diving required a little more walking to and from the water. Rough going. Basically boned all of my remaining planned dives.

Doug, appreciate you taking the time and effort to put together this summary. Thank You. If the storm weakens to a Tropical Depression, how will that affect diving conditions?

Survey, rank the 5 best dive spots in Caribbean

Been to Belize and Curacao. No doubt that Curacao was the easiest diving! Shore diving is just the way to do it. Absolutely stress-free! Belize was fun but the dive profiles were a little on the rough side for our tastes. Lots of square dives - needed the SI's! We are thinking that our next...

    PROTECH ambergris caye

I've never used Eco but I have used Protech. Agree with rduncan in all respects. Peter and Israel get it done right. Israel was our DM for a full 2 weeks and he was safe and thorough in every capacity. When we return to Belize, it'll be Peter and Protech again.

Anyone stay at Victoria House Belize

We stayed at VH for a week in July of 2006. We had an outstanding time. The resort is magnificent in all respects and the service is world class. We used Protech for our diving as well. Call Peter and let him handle the logistics. The got a stellar operation and safety is always first. They...
