Mares Dive Organizer consumption spike at start of dive?

If the software was giving you a straight out respiratory minute volume calculation (not taking into account depth) than you wouldn't see a spike it would just be a graph that generally increased with depth and decreased on ascent assuming breathing rate stays otherwise constant!

Mares Dive Organizer consumption spike at start of dive?

I challenge you to articulate your argument better! The percent change is not part of the equation! The tank is not compressible so the pressure does not change with depth! The SAC takes the volume of gas you are breathing divided by the ambient pressure, and does not relate to a change from...

Mares Dive Organizer consumption spike at start of dive?

surface Consumption is normalized for the surface and math is math!

Full Cave course with Jim Wyatt - looking for buddies (November)

Katolix, Ironic that I happened to check out the forums this morning. It's not often I come onto SB anymore. I'm happy to see that you're going to finish up Full Cave! I had a great time in the fist part of the training with you. I have finished full cave and been back down a couple times...

Bremerton Dive Shop / Buddy for February / March 2012

Lynn, I can almost guarantee people Octo sightings at some dives in the hood canal, back in dens of course. I would put the odds at greater than 95%. Especially right now they have been plentiful. To the OP. I live in Kitsap County and would love to dive with you.

    Flying to North Florida Saturday

Hey all, I'll be headed to North Florida on Saturday (really a red-eye on Friday night) will be there about noon on Saturday and will begin my Cavern (retake since it's been three years), Intro, and Apprentice classes on Sunday with Johnny Richards. I plan on camping at Ginnie Springs...

    Dungeness Crane dive

This dive was a lot of fun and a lot of great structure. Great Video RJ. I do believe that's the last time I'll be out in the strait without a live boat. I was in third or fourth gear just to stay even with the accent line, but the bottom was still swimable at parts, and very fun. Once...

    Blackbeards 5/21-5/27

I will be on the boat the next week. A week off... I have done a blackbeards cruise before, and what others have said is absolutely true. You will have a great time. I"m actually traveling by myself because the timing was all worked around a business trip, and I'm not concerned about the week...

Technical Divers conducting limited In-Water Recompression

I know of one diver who was able to complete successful IWR. He had finished a cave dive, and after doffing his gear saw symptoms of the skin bends. I don't know what his schedule for this dive. It's not a DCS hit, but it was a successful treatment.

    Extending bottom time with AL80s

I believe IANTD has introduced an openwater side mounting class, and as part of the class they talk about converting a traditional BCD into a sidemount rig. Many sidemount divers, a group of which I am not a member, wear a rig that is strictly setup for sidemount, i.e. The Nomad, but I've been...

    PADI tables finally going away?

Here's my two cents worth: Teaching tables vs. Computers gets down to a more fundamental principle in my mind. We aren't teaching enough in Open Water classes. -Do you use different sizes and style tanks in your class? Or do you mandate that they are only certified do dive Aluminum 80s...

Rec EXP wing suitable for singles and doubles?

I agree with NWGratefulDiver. I use a Rec Wing with my doubles, but have the venture wing for my large single steel tanks, and would even consider the travel wing if I were going to be diving warm tropical waters with AL tanks more often. I am most familiar with the DR wings. I know other...

    True cost of ownership?

Fred, could you please explain to me what you mean by this? I am aware that many shops wont' fill 6351 alloy tanks, but that doesn't mean that we decide to make the lifetime of a tank 20 years as an industry. Catalina tanks have been made without lead since the beginning and are still being...

    Nitrox and air

As many folks have said yes they can be. I like Crowley's comments. It doesn't hurt to use your Nitrox on the first dive of the day if it's deeper. In an open water diving class they teach you to do you deepest dive of the day first and to get shallower with each dive. Well in terms of...

Are you using an enviro-sealed regulator?

Rick it is interesting to hear you say that I don't have a lot of personal expeirence with Scubapro but have heard nothing but good things about them, even from people who don't work on them or sell them. It sounds reasonable to me though.

Are you using an enviro-sealed regulator?

Another thing that I would add to this conversation is that if this is the same Aaron that is on Nwdiveclub than I know he's diving a lot and I've been to a 100 ft. with him and know that he probably wants a good work horse regulator. I don't mean to blow this up and make it sound like Darwin...

Are you using an enviro-sealed regulator?

Well the MK25 is exempt from the conversation because it too is a Cold Water regulator. But the technology there is patented and when you're talking outside the Scubapro world the enviro seal is what makes the difference.... From the scubapro MK25 website... //**** From Scubapro *****/...

Are you using an enviro-sealed regulator?

Aaron for anyone doing any serious diving I always suggest enviro- sealed regulators. It is true that you are less likely to have a freeze up in salt water, but in freshwater it's more common that most Northwest divers seem to realize. I hear about people making dives in Lake Crescent all the...

Which side does your safe 2nd come off of??

I learned with the second coming from the left too, and it makes the most sense to me, but I'm not actually posting to argue over which is better. I am going to share the short history of second regulators as I have gotten it from a number of folks who have been diving longer than me, but the...

    Rebuilding a 2nd Stage

I took a rebuild course about a year ago or so. I only rebuilt a few regulators with the Instructor I was working with at the time when I moved. Since then I don't work anywhere or rebuild regulators for the masses anymore, but still work on my own. In Fresh Water I would clean all the parts...
