Using ChatGPT to write comments/posts about dive equipment

Given the material on the internet that this system draws from, I'm surprised that it isn't a rageaholic freak by now. Part of what this can do is write computer programs. But like its conversation, it's just cobbling together existing code. I wanted to test it so I did a video about ChatGPT...

    Nord Stream Pipeline Video

Many Ukrainians take pride in a history going back centuries before Russia. If they wanted to be part of Russia they would have joined long ago. The invasion of Ukraine is not about a small European country run by a Jewish comedy actor being a Naxi threat to an entire continent. Even most...

What do you do when a fin goes away?

In retail dive stores, shoplifting can be a problem. I've worked in a store where someone actually stole a single fin off a display, leaving the store with half a pair. I'm not sure what the theif was thinking, maybe come in later after the other fin was displayed and steal it too. I've heard...

    Son gets headaches when diving

I was about to mention this. I've seen someone very tense under water with their jaw clinched down hard on the mouthpiece through the entire dive. It can cause TMJ issues.

Who would you choose to host a show about diving?

I would pick me. I have experience in public speaking, I'm comfortable in front of the camera and I have decades of dive experience. All I need is more hair, pretty teeth, pecs, a lot of new clothes and I'd be perfect.

Ice diver's rope snapped - Cold Stream Pond, Maine

When I went ice diving, the rope looked like it was mountain climbing rope. I can't imagine the force required to 'snap' it.

How to get padi Space suit diver specialty?

I did some work with the Neutral Buoyancy Lab years ago and joked about jumping in for a test dive. I was told that the training for the support divers was almost as intensive as the astronaut training. Also, jumping in the pool would have been a big-time felony. I don't know that the NBL ever...

Divers disabled on 270-meter dives, firm convicted - Australia

This is my guess. It's my understanding that HPNS can be exacerbated by a rapid descent. Theoretically, dive plans to this depth should account for that and calculate it into the descent rate. Perhaps, they are saying the divers were 'blown down' at an unsafe rate?

    Vintage Diving Photos

Here's me and my dive buddy from the mid to late 1980s at Canyon Lake in Central Texas. The vest style BCD was a big upgrade for me at the time. You can also see my beloved Nikonos III rig. My buddy had Sea Pearls vinyl coated weights and decades later I'd become the general manager of Sea...

    I'm such an idiot!

You'd be surprised how many times in my career a customer sent in a 'defective' valve or first stage that wouldn't seal properly. Generally, they look ok, but when you remove the yoke from the first stage and stand in on its inlet orifice, you notice it doesn't stand completely straight up. A...

    changes at Sea Pearls....

Hello Friends, After 16 years of service and 60 years of age, I’m going to be retiring as the General Manager of Sea Pearls, the world’s largest supplier of premium die cast diving weights. It has been an amazing experience as I’ve had chances to work with so many diverse organizations involved...

Anyone tried the Bism White Beans Reg?

That is a really cool bit of detailing. I don't know how I would feel about adding cosmetics to a gauge needle but it does look very cool. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Has anyone seen that sort of thing on any other gauges?

Is Indonesia force vaccinating tourists upon arrival?

I was going to write a sarcastic, humorous post about the 'DCS Hoax' that has tricked all the weak minded sheeple into spending thousands of dollars on dive computers and how the industry of hyperbaric physiology makes millions promoting the hoax. As an industry insider, I could even do a...

    Wanted WTB - Titanium Backplate

I have an old OMS plate made from TI. Many, (many,) years ago, OMS was considering adding a Ti plate to their line up and they had a few made. I was lucky enough to get an unfinished one and hand finish it like a samurai sword. It's way cool looking. But it was doomed as a retail product. The...

New charges for Sotis (Add helium)and Emilie Voissem (Nexus Underwater)

Ah, I think I see... In particular, not all rebreathers addressed in the CCL are restricted for shipment to Libya. There are many exceptions to the licensing requirements and shipments to Libya are not excluded from these exceptions. The government failed to show the need for a license for rEVO...

New charges for Sotis (Add helium)and Emilie Voissem (Nexus Underwater)

If the defendant is trying to argue that the rEVO3 is not a closed circuit rebreather, the prosecutor should have just posted a link to the rEVO website. Pretty much says it all... http://www.revo-rebreathers.com/products/revo-iii-closed-circuit-rebreather/

New charges for Sotis (Add helium)and Emilie Voissem (Nexus Underwater)

I'm not a lawyer so my reading of this may be way off but is part of their appeal based on the fact that the government failed to proved that rEVO 3 rebreathers are 'closed circuit rebreathers'? From the document... A. The Government Charged but Failed to Prove that the rEVO III Rebreathers...
