    Worried Onlookers

I didn't ask if they were worried... when I got close to shore they were standing there with their arms on their hips looking frustrated and said "we were worried about you! we thought you were drowning!" and I said "Sorry!" and waded past them towards my campsite. I felt bad, but what can you do?

    New Shore Dive in Kingston

Thanks for the directions to this shore dive. Today the vis was about 20ft and the thermocline there was at 57ft. I like the flourescent yellow line, it's easy to see.

    Hamilton Dive

Yes I suspect that too. Tom R was banned from here for sending me death wishes by PM. But then this other account who types and talks just like Tom and is apparently in love with Tom keeps posting about how great Tom is ;)

New LARGE Dive Boat in Kingston

    *pout* Why no walk-ons? :coffee:

    Kingston ON shore dives

There's also the Kingston Belly Dumper behind the old psychiatric hospital, and the Munson, which tech divers can do from shore (they're rather far from shore). There are dive reports for those dives in this forum if you're looking for information.

Anyone ever have a close call going solo?

No, never. I always dive conservatively when I'm solo.

Just received copy of 'Submerged' DVD - Lost Villages Documentary

There's at least one standing building, the Moulinette Grist Mill, although it's missing it's roof :D That might even be on the DVD.

All the cold with none of the overhead

Those poor doggies... before I zoomed in I thought they were sheep! I miss diving this winter, not sure if I miss it enough to go freeze my face off like that though :D

If your significant other doesn't want to learn to dive DON'T Pressure them!!!

I was pressured into learning to dive and did it just for someone else but I ended up liking it so much.

Ever been saved by your buddy?

I've done about 400 dives in 2 years. Just one incident where my buddy got narked at depth and I pulled him up to start his ascent so we wouldn't run out of air. I can't think of any situation where a buddy saved me.

Would you dive with someone who wouldn't share air if you were OOA?

I chose "no" but the wording of the poll leaves some questions. If someone can't share air because of their configuration, that would be acceptable because I dive in a configuration where I don't need to depend on a buddy for air. But what kind of a person would refuse to share air if he...

    Sidemount solo

Thats weird how they have the bungees set up... what happens in that rig if you go face up on your back? It seems like the tops of the tanks would fall down...

    Sidemount solo

It's the Nomad as it comes from Dive Rite, shown here: SCUBA Diving Equipment and gear for Technical, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - Nomad Expedition Rig

    Sidemount solo

I dive sidemount because I think its the best solo configuration. I bought a diverite nomad and it works well. There is no backplate in the system, it's based on the Transpac.

    Help me, please

:D I'd suggest you start technical diving, because then you'll use multiple tanks per dive and you'll need all those regs. Might as well put them to good use ;)

That Time of Year - Freeflows

They're Apex regulators. Generally they're very good but I think the laws of physics simply indicate that 32F water can't transfer heat to a cold regulator enough to prevent freezing.

That Time of Year - Freeflows

I brought it to Sharky's and they fixed it up right. It's not a regulator problem now, its just the fact than any regulator can freeflow in 32F fresh water.

That Time of Year - Freeflows

Well, last year around this time I had all 3 of my regulators freeflow at the same time. (primary, backup and stage) while diving the Connestoga. It was a bit scary, and got me thinking about the physics involved. I haven't heard of any accidents this winter, and I hope it stays that way!

That Time of Year - Freeflows

For those who choose to dive during these cold months, please remember that at this time of year the latent energy or latent heat of the water in the St. Lawrence is getting very low, and freeflows are more likely. The water temperature has been slowly inching its way down towards 32F, and is...

    Diving nitrox

I also wouldn't want to pay extra for a charter, I already find the $65 expensive. And I suspect people with lots of extra money to throw around probably have their own boats. Just my opinion though..
