    Newly Certified Old Farts

Don't get yourself all psyched out over it. Just go dive and have fun. Practicing in pool is a great idea. Depending on where you end up, if there is a chance to do a shore dive or two (not familiar with Keys diving), try that out to get comfortable. If not, don't sweat it. Last several...

What do you wear to stay warm in drysuit/cold water? - two questions

Thanks everyone for the replies...good info. Regarding the heated vest/undersuits...I've looked at those. Not ready to make that kind of investment yet, before exploring other options. Just bought a 3-D vest and am going to try it with some better layering before buying a new undergarment...

What do you wear to stay warm in drysuit/cold water? - two questions

Lynn: The suit still has wrist seals, but I put a piece of rope between the seal and my wrist. I was amazed at how well this worked yesterday...perhaps too well...because I was able to get air into my gloves (something I wasn't able to do before with thinner straws between wrist and...

What do you wear to stay warm in drysuit/cold water? - two questions

I'm researching different types of layering and different undergarments. I'm thinking of buying a new undergarment and new thermals. I grew up skiing, so layering is habit. In the past, I was layering thermals with an older Whites undergarment (not sure of type...but fleece and relatively...

    Si-tech Neck tite user experience?

I installed the Si-Tech neck ring in a Bare Nex-Gen suit last year. I was worried about the same things you are, such as interference with the straps on my BP/W, being uncomfortable and trouble reaching valves. I have a dozen or so dives on it. I'm diving in cold water, so using thick...

    So...

I used to smoke. I've quit a couple of times in my life...longest time for 7 years (started when I was about 12). I put them down for good April 2012. I drink...but not to excess any more. Probably what is going to get me first is the damage I did when I was younger related to jobs. Working...

Getting water around neck seal of drysuit

I think I went from from a 16.5 or 17" neck to a 16" neck...so not that much. However, if combined with the neck seal stretching...might be enough to cause leaking. What surprised me was that it happened on two dives in a row. Yeah...semi-dry when you are expecting dry is no fun. Thanks; John

Getting water around neck seal of drysuit

It is a latex neck seal. The seal may be getting weak. When I first cut the seal, it was tight. Now, it is comfortable...but I've lost some weight (actually lost inches...stopped weight-lifting), so I don't know if the seal has stretched or if my neck is smaller. I bought a new seal to...

Getting water around neck seal of drysuit

The last two times I've worn my dry suit (standard bellows type neck seal), I've gotten water past the neck seal. I ended up with soaked undergarments...which made for somewhat of a cold dive. I've not had this happen before (over the last 50 or so dives), so I'm wondering what I'm doing...or...

    Bolting to the surface...

We had an instance like this a couple of weeks ago. I'm diving with a friend of mine. Another diver asks to join us. We're both a little reluctant, because 3 isn't really a buddy team. We agreed to turn when 1/3 of the first person's gas was used (who ever used 1/3 first). So we turn the...

Understanding the math behind partial pressure blending

Hi all: Not sure if this post belongs here...but wasn't sure where else to post it. Back story...taking my tanks to my dive shop for a nitrox fill. They are currently filled with air. I am going on a dive trip in a couple of weeks and want 32%. I asked them if they can do a partial pressure...

    Apeks ARX200 second stage problem

Ok...this makes perfect sense to me. I dropped off the regs at my dive shop yesterday and spoke to the manager, so I can't actually test this...but the fact that the second stage was fine on the first dive and then had the problem on the second dive points to what you are describing. The reg...
