    Big Bay Point Dive Flags

Excuse my late entrance to this thread, but the above is similar to wearing a bullet-proof vest. Sure, it provides protection... Just don't get shot in the head.

    Angry

Hate to say it - but poor planning. The best way to get something you need for a dive in a couple days (ie. this weekend) is to go into a shop and buy it.. Then you have the tangible product. While I agree your complaints about the shipping are valid - if they don't have it, they don't have it...

    Split Fins WHich ones?

I had Apollo Bio fins and they were OK. I later bought JetFins (not splits) and find them much better for everything (power, frog kick, and to back kick).

Can't we apply the old rule of, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all."

Thanks for the link, Bill. They need to do something about the reserve air near the diver's stomach.. Like a bigger bottle!

    new breathing apparatus

This is what I hate about this forum. The guy asks a simple question.. Have you heard of it, does it work.. A simple answer, Yes or No woulds suffice. But no, everyone tries to nail the guy, I'm assuming, because it doesn't sound feasible.. Not everyone is as knowledgeable about scuba as YOU.

    Hello and a question

If yout want a quick solution to stay warm in the water, go to an outfitter's shop - one that sells kayaks etc. Bare - who makes scuba exposure clothing (drysuits etc) - also make drysuits for kayaking and white water rafting. Granted, they don't have an inflate/exhaust valve... You wouldn't be...

    Instructor Questions...

I did a brief search on the Board and failed to find any answers. So I'll post my questions here... I'm looking at getting my instructor's certification and using it to work overseas while traveling. 1. What do you think the "best overall" agency is to take your IDC & IEC through? 2...

    drink after dive

I've rigged a system whereby i carry 4 bottles of beer (2 in each bc pocket) and they feed into a hose system that goes into my second stage just passed the diaphragm.. I just flip this switch that roles a ball valve and PRESTO.. no more cotton mouth. You can find pics & detailed directions in...

    Turned upside down

No. You just didn't have enough weight if you had to hold onto the line to stay down - good thing there was a line. You are either positive, neutral, or negative. If you're negative but have buoyant feet (ie. drysuit inversion) then you'll be stuck upside down but still sink. You just needed...

    Diving in Puerto Vallarta (PV)

I did my very first adventure dive through PV Adventures (I got my OW cert @ home) ... I am going back a week Thursday to Peutro Vallarta and I'm looking at booking with Twin Dolphins. I'll let you know when I'm back. S.

    Why do Advanced Open Water?

AOW is mostly needed for tight-*** boat ops who want to cover their *** a little more... Otherwise, its good for new divers who want a little more time with an instructor.. My two cents..

    Wetsuit In 4 Below

I'm fairly tolerant of the cold & dove a 7mm 2pc wetsuit in 42F water and froze my b*lls off. Try and get a drysuit.. At those temps hypothermia & loss of dexterity will hit you quick.

    Quick SMB/Lift Bag Question

Point taken - Thanks! I didn't buy it to use as a lift bag (if I wanted a lift bag, I would have bought one) ... Just seeing if it functional as one in a pinch.. I'll use it for what its for.

    Quick SMB/Lift Bag Question

I bought an open-bottomed SMB today - it has two lead slates on the bottom of it to it stay upright on the surface. It says "Diver Below" on it & would be about 4-5' long with a diameter of roughly 4"-5". Would I be able to use this as a light-duty lift bag? Or are they not too...
