Thanks everybody for the info.
I should know in a couple of weeks if I will move over at the start of next year.
Sounds like it is worth moving over the dive gear with me.
@doctormike, nice vid and photos.
@rongoodman, will bring dry suit and light.

M
Thanks for the replies.
Not too familiar with geography in this area (I was under the impression that Oneonta was upstate NY), but where exactly is the St Lawrence?
Anything closer to Oneonta? Even something just to practise skills?
Thanks
M
All,
There is the possibility I might be spending some time in upstate NY (some time being a couple of years). I was wondering what the options are for diving around the Oneonta area? Or is driving to the coast the only option?
Any advice is welcome.
M.
For work I will be in Warrnambool this feb and march.
I am hoping on getting some dives in. (Provided I get enough time off work.)
Can anybody give me some advice on local conditions.
Particularly:
- Water temperature between feb and march. (Which suit to take.)
- Good dive shops for...
I would like my wife to stick to just Snorkel.
For me the key lies in the unknown.
Imagine something is wrong with the child, which might even show up in later life, how will you handle the "what if question". What if you hadn't made those dives...
My approach would be.. find out if...
Plz add another assumption.
Am I joining a guided dive or are we a random group of divers at the same spot in the ocean?
If guided dive, I would see if I can off load the diver to the guide before going up with him. Not just because I would like to finish the dive with my buddy but also...
I have looked at the data of all three.
Statistically there is no significant relationship between depth and sac in the data you have supplied.
(I know what I am talking about.)
On a side note:
There was a study carried out on court cases. It turned out there was a very clear...
CO2 in the blood determines the need to breath (TSandM can probably correct me if I am wrong.)
If Deeper means less breathing due to physiology:
Depth would either need to influence the amount of CO2 in the blood, or the way the body reacts to CO2 in the blood.
Personally I don't think...
Agree
And even if you could complety descripe the SAC relationship. The dive will never be exactly to plan. So saying something about your sac for a future dive will always be an estimation.
Yep this would be my preferred way.
Have a good think about what you are trying to proof/disproof and then design some experiments and carry them out in a statistically sound manner. (Ie repeating measurements etc.)
You will then most likely find that depth isn't that relevant (within rec...
Ok kicked out the dives shorter than 20 min. Assumed they were dives called short for one reason or another and not representative.
Did a quick and once again very dirty analysis for both time and depth. Time remains the key factor on your sac.
See contourplot for graphical representation...
Mike,
When I quickly analyse the first set of data (dive_data.xls).
I would come to some very dirty and quick conclusions.
1. Avg SAC is not dependant on:
- max depth
- avg depth
2. No relationship between time and:
- max depth
- avg depth
3. Avg SAC is dependant on time or...
