Not Aqua Dives! The divemasters were good, but the boats are crowded and crappy. I also felt sorry for the people renting equipment (which is crazy anyway, but still).
Don't know much else about Ambergris operators since we spent most of our time out on Turneffe...

I'm going to be on a houseboat on Lake Shuswap for a week in June. I was wondering if I should bother bringing my dive gear? I don't have room to bring tanks, so I would have to rent them as well as have a place nearby to get fills. Anyone know anything?

We stayed at Turneffe Flats for a week and loved it. Basically 3 dives a day (2 morning, 1 afternoon) and AWESOME food. They have a great dive boat and staff that will make you feel like family.

I just got back from Ambergris on Wednesday. We also spent a week out at Turneffe Flats (highly highly recommended) before going to San Pedro. If I was going to dive the blue hole from Ambergris I would definately use Amigos. Reason? Nicer dive boat than the other guys (pro48). It's a long...
I have one of these BC's. It did allow me to drop some weight (about 8 pounds).
Things I like:
- velcro weights are more secure than seaquest kind
- metal backplate
- front zippered pouch/pocket
- lots of d-rings, although they are a little thick (yes I know some people don't want too...
I use a suunto cobra as my main dive instrument. However, most of the time I also wear my rolex submariner. Very rugged and easily readable at any depth.

I'm interested in getting a copy of the letter as well.
BTW, I did end up buying everything from LP and was very satisfied. I got the mk25/s600 regs, cobra computers etc.

Very interesting thread so far. I went ahead and bought some equipment from leisure pro. However, I also spent about $2k at the dive shop as well.
From my calculations I've SAVED $1500 by not buying at the lds on these purchases. Also keep in mind that by buying out of state I save on...
I'm curious about this as well since I want to buy some gear online and I assume I will have to assemble it. I thought you pretty much just screwed the hoses in and then checked for leaks.
Someone knowledgable please answer.

So, is it worth it to save the money (about $2700 in my case) and buy from someone like leisurepro? Or is it better to go with the lds?
I like the dive shop and the people there, but we are talking about saving a huge amount of money.
Any comments?
