Please help me buy a tank!

Conversely - steel cylinders are possibly one of the few pieces of dive gear that hold value, assuming you don't abuse them. If the cylinders you want aren't available used, and new is in your affordable range, figure that you can unload them for probably not a whole lot less than you paid a few...

For Sale: Used Nuvair Voyager Compressor with extras

You're replying to a 14 year old sale thread, where the OP hasn't even logged into SB since 2013.

    Closed Cylinder Inspection Light

OxyHacker's Pg. 13-14 seems to dispute that this is useful.

    Closed Cheap Men's undergarment

I started out with single-layer Polartec fleece jacket and pants from REI - think I found them on a clearance rack. Invest in a wicking base layer (Underarmour cold gear or similar) - you'll like that under whatever layers you use, and nice to have if you're diving dry in a pool or such for...

    Trouble with reading SD card

SD cards are cheap - once they start acting up, replace them. Flash memory has a finite lifespan, so treat them as a wear item. Even better - pick up two, and train yourself that the camera is never left without a card. Pull the one out that you just shot, replace with another one. Helps...

    Closed Cylinder Inspection Light

Oooh, I like the idea of a flexible wire! Good thing I bought a 3-pack, I can maybe try that out next :)

    Closed Cylinder Inspection Light

I made one out of a set of these: ...and a small stick/dowel I found in my garage, and some clear packing tape. Good enough for my needs. Oh, and some zip ties of course...

Aqua Lung Fusion 2 Boot info

The Fusion boots are intended to velcro onto the Fusion drysuit, over top of the bi-lam sock that's attached to the core. I don't think you'd have much luck using them standalone.

    Sold! 4500 PSI Bank Cylinders

Found homes for all of these! (But I kept one, just in case... ended up filling it with Nitrox so I don't have to return a partially-full O2 cylinder to the gas supplier...)

    LocLine and GoPro

If you go for the pre-made mounts - get the real GoPro stuff - not the knockoffs on Amazon - the knockoffs aren't as 'stiff' and break easily if you try to reconfigure them. And it's not compatible with real LocLine. On Adam Savage's Tested YouTube channel he's done a couple of episodes on...

Effect of Relative Humidity on compressors

Good thread pointers! Thanks! Off to read more....

First Liveaboard trip - what to take, what to leave behind, what to know?

As others mention - not everyone will be diving Nitrox or testing. On the LOB's I've been on the crew usually starts filling as soon as divers are back on the boat - by the time you get out of your wetsuit and stuff there's a good chance you'll be ready to analyze, and get your regs re-attached...

Effect of Relative Humidity on compressors

So my reading of that - and the "5 top tips..." that they link to, is that they are speaking to a market where water coalescers (coalesci?) are not the norm - unlike the Breathing Air compressor market. If the water separator can remove "99%" of the water from the air, then what's left is...

    Replacement HP Spool and Boot

This is the kind of thing that most dive shops will probably have a dusty box on a shelf somewhere of used boots and if they're in a good mood will give you one or sell cheaply, especially if you happen to be buying something else...

Effect of Relative Humidity on compressors

So @rob.mwpropane and I were talking elsewhere, and the topic of "should you run the compressor on a humid day" came up. Kind of what was in another thread: Mainly (I think) the concern is about impact on filter life - does pumping humid air result in more moisture making it's way to the...

    Owning your own Oxygen Analyzer

Holy Necrothread! (For the reference I love adding to good threads like this, rather than starting new ones.... kudos!) I just built an ElCheapo. It's a fun project, but a couple of gotchas. I went this way specifically because I need a remote sensor for my new Nitrox stick. I'm not intending...

Who has O2 sensors in stock? (March 2024)

I just ordered one (for my Nitrox analyzer) from Oxycheq. Supposedly shipped out Wednesday.
