    Wow... I'd guess they are females that got caught with eggs at one point, or something. I've seen a couple of really big ones there, and they all were eggs/notched. good luck finding one you can keep. feegle

    can you lobster at night? I think massachusetts restricts 1/2 hour on each side sunrise/sunset. good luck... I've tried free diving for lobster around Salt Island in Gloucester at low tide. got one monster, but if course it was there because it was notched. I'd starve if I had to feed myself...

    flounder

    I just read the regs on flounder... there is no season north of the cape, and they were not mentioned in the list of fish with a snagging prohibition. 12 inch/8 bag limit for winter, 13 inch/no bag limit for yellowtail Can I infer from this that spearing, snagging, etc is OK for flounder...

    Yeah, I prefer my hands, too, but sometimes you need to get something behind them so they they'll come out. I woulda had a big one off salt island last year... missing the 'thumb' on one claw so when I grabbed the other (I could just reach) it couldn't pinch me. I could get around behind it...
