    Adventure Aquarium (Camden) Volunteer Program

It has been a while since I looked at this, but I think the issue I ran into was that they really want/need people to volunteer during the week; they already have more than enough people to staff the weekends. Again, just give them a call. What can it hurt to ask?

50ft dive after 1hr of instruction?

Did he have an Instructor/DM with him the whole time (aka a Discover Scuba program as others have said)? How confident are you that he really was at 50 feet? Did he check a gague, or was he simply estimating? I know on my Discover Scuba class that got me into diving, I thought I was a lot deeper...

    Missing supporter options

I have an annual subscription for supporting membership. Last Paypal payment was made Oct 31 2008, but it looks like my account doesn't have access to supporter options. Don't see the option under group memberships, and the "don't display ads" option is being ignored.

Seeking a more quality diving experience

Of the places I've dived, Cozumel is one of the friendlier places to go without a pre-arranged buddy, since the marine park regulations there require all dives be led and a ratio of 1 DM per X divers (where I think X is 6 or 8 or the like). Most of the dive groups end up clustering around the...

OOA question. Who is teaching to give your main unit?

Certainly "me first, then I help you" is a valid position to take, but it really applies more to not chasing a paniced diver to the surface at an unsafe rate or not following a "buddy" as they they decide to do something stupid like wreck penetration without appropriate gear, and not to...

    New flight Regulations about carry-on

There's talk over on the FlyerTalk forums (forums for frequent flyers) about some airlines at some airports having staff just outside of security measuring bags. That way you can still go back to the counter and check an oversized bag (and pay the airline the $$$ they want to charge you for it)...

    Travel Luggage Anti-Theft Countermeasures

You can lock checked bags in the US. You just have to use special locks that the TSA has master keys to. They're fairly common to buy within the US, although I'd assume a bit more challenging to find outside the US. The place where you can run into trouble with locks is at Customs, and that...

    Wetsuit when?

Is the diveshop running a special on wetsuits? :D Nervous DMs and Instructors are much more known for adding too much weight to make sure you don't shoot to the surface vs extra buoyancy, since your BC can generally compensate for overweighting, whereas the only thing that compensates for...

Whoever said you can't get rich diving, is a liar!

The fastest way to make a small fortune in the dive industry is to start with a large fortune... Looks like this LDS owner is early in the process of going from large fortune to small fortune.

    Wetsuit for Dutch Springs

I'm not prone to get cold too easily, but I'd concur on a 7mm. You could probably get away with less if you stayed about the first thermocline, but that's usually 20-25ft I believe, so probably wouldn't be much of a dive.

Planning a trip to either Cozumel or Belize, which is better?

Honestly, your best option is probably to go check out the Cozumel forum here on Scubaboard. It's pretty active, and variations of your question come up fairly often, so you may get some ideas from reading the previous threads, and if they don't answer your question, you can post there and get...

BC Vest for a large guy

When I was looking for a BCs one of my Local Dive Shops suggested a BC from Seasoft Scuba. They have BCs that are very adjustable to fit many body shapes and sizes. I didn't end going with it for other reasons, and went with a Mares Dragon BC, but this might be an option for you. I wouldn't...

Uncertified but going to Australia in 2 1/2 mos

Think of it as practice for local diving, where 7mm wetsuits or drysuits are the norm! :D

Planning a trip to either Cozumel or Belize, which is better?

As other have said, the first dive tends to be down in the 70-90 foot range in Cozumel. The dives there are almost all drift dives. Lots of people refer to the diving in Cozumel as "lazy man's diving," since basically you fall off the boat, do just enough swimming to keep the group together as...

Planning a trip to either Cozumel or Belize, which is better?

If the kids are young enough to have depth restrictions, I'd probably pick Belize. Good diving (although I think Cozumel's a bit better), but there's less push to go deep, and more to see and more ability to have a mixed depth group, since the finger and grove coral there is fairly deep, or at...

Uncertified but going to Australia in 2 1/2 mos

As others have said, most training agencies have 4 scuba dives split over 2 days once you've completed your classroom and pool work. As for how far south, what's your tolerance for cold? Getting used to some cold might not be a bad thing if you want to dive near home... Most people can do...

    Fairy's big Sydney adventure.......

And Floriade is very pretty. Isn't Fairy supposed to be on the road yet? She called me tonight, but I'm seeing posts from others on her Cairns trip on the road.

    Cozumel?

Well to be fair to the original poster, he didn't post in the Cozumel forum (which is why I posted a link to it). A mod moved it here.

    Cozumel?

Cozumel is a very popular dive location. So popular it has its own forum here on Scubaboard. You may want to look through it and read some of the posts there. Coming in on a cruise isn't the best way to experience Cozumel diving IMO, but it certainly beats a poke in the eye. :) The cruise ships...

    Fairy's big Sydney adventure.......

3 times for a total of 9 weeks or so. Maybe going back in 4 or 5 months. Having family down under pops it up on the visit radar more often. And the fact that two of them are in the Canberra/ACT area means I get to visit there, despite what Mr. Bryson says. :D
