After several delays, the Vandenberg ship has finally left for Key West, one of the last steps in a 13-year process to create the newest artificial reef in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Ah...yeah. CO2 monitor is probably the next big development for CCR safety. Not aware of any production units today. Been lots of talk about them but then again, been lots of talk about RBs that still haven't seen the end of a production line.
I'd say all current units (CCR and SCR) have them. The Drager has a PO2 monitor as an option (i.e. extra $$) but there is a place to plug it in the unit from the factory. And there are a few after market PO2 monitors that can be fitted to just about any unit.
The only unit I can think of...
SCRs have one key benefit - different experience. Learning got properly and safely dive a SCR will help you with CCR diving. As will learning and diving different CCRs. I'm not saying diving a different one a week but learning the different units, the pros and cons and most importantly the...
I can think of a few people going past 300'. And they/we were all on CCRs. But with the time spent for deco, there better be some NTIs down there to see. Or a good movie on the trip back up.
If you do dives to that depth regularly, you might end up going CCR just to same money and time...
There is beach diving done in Vero. I've not done it but I know a dozen people that have. They usually go out to the reef which is pretty close (i.e. less than 100 yards) and get lobsters and maybe some lost treasure. I know the viz can be as good as 20-30 feet and as bad a 2-3 feet.
One...
In case you didn't know, that episode was not the end of the series. They decided to split the final 20 episodes of season 4 into 2 parts. The last 10 episodes are rumored to be aired starting in 2009.
I personally thought season 4 episodes 1 to 10 were weak compared to season 1 and 2. And...
Looking forward to how they end the series and answer all those goofy cliff hangers those many months ago. Maybe they'll end it with the last show just going black. :11:
I guess the good news is that after this season, we won't have to wait years to see a new show.
I was in Punta Cana at the end of November at the Iberostar (???) resort. We checked into diving but between the constant high winds and the cost, we decided not to dive. The dive master said that at the resort, the wind is usually high since it comes unobstructed from the Atlantic. He said the...
It's an MP3 file. More to the point, it's an audio clip of some piece of news or interview. And since they would like you to listen to it on your iPod, it's a podcast.
Firefly: go look at the DVD set for the episodes before the movie Serenity was released. That shows ever episode that's been made. I bought it because I liked Serenity and thought some shows were never shown. Well, the 3 listed as "unaired" where shown on SciFi. Not a bad purchase but I was...
So the 3rd season has come and gone. What was that, like 5 shows and now we have to wait until 2008 for the next new episode? Is SciFi trying to kill this show?
I would really like you to explain why that would be?
This is not a bill to charge taxes or make the airlines fly people for free.
If the airlines never mistreat a passenger, then none of the penalties being suggested would be imposed against the airline. This is like a traffic ticket. You...
And who is going to tell the FAA to pass policy and rules to fix this? Maybe Congress.....
I don't like rules for every aspect of life. But when airlines treat people so badly without any regard to simple human dignity, it seems that the appropriate and legal way to correct it is to get...
I agree. After 2 hours, I would decide I don't like their service and demand to be let off the plane. And I believe everyone should have to right to do just that.
And I have left a store after shopping after waiting 30 minutes in the checkout line. Just leave the cart and go. That's my right...
Not sure how being kept on a plane for 8 hours is like waiting in line at a restaurant or a store. I guess if Walmart and Safeway was locking me or my family in the building for 8 hours at a time with no bathrooms or water, I'd want a law to prevent that as well.
But then if someone I know...
