Let me try to help, By the law (Israeli) you have to have special diving insurance, you can buy it on the dive shop and it cover you for a year - the total cost is ILS 175 = $46 = € 37 (+/-). another choice is a special insurance for 5 days where you can do at : www.idive.co.il - credit cards...

Let me put my 5 cents please regarding Eilat : 1. If I have up to 4-5 days and this is the first time for me in the red sea I would stay in Eilat from couple of reasons : A. Shore and easy dive, Just put tank and jump to the water most of the dives start at the shore and easily you can find...

In that case, go to the north, dive the Scire (the Ialian sub) + the "canyon" near Nahariyah - both are boat dive, interesting and not crowded at all :-)

Agreed with Arizona....regarding the Med, but as for the med....go down to Eilat, have a day or two diving, cross the border to Taba (Egypt) and join to a bus or Taxi to Sharem El Shich (3.5 hours drive +/-) and from there- take anything you like :-). In Israel dive in the Med is easy mainly...
