    Atom 3.0 vs. Atom 2.0?

I just picked up an Atom 3.0. Dove 8 dives last weekend with it. Rock solid wireless connection, easy to see and has a nice low profile on your wrist; it doesn't bump into everything you're next to. I know 8 dives is not enough to tell how's it's going to roll long term but I like what I see...

    Key Largo -- July 22nd, 23rd and 24th

I can't stand it. I'm waiting for dive buddies to get free to come on down to dive and no one can do it -- so I'm going it alone. Looking at Silent World's Boat 1 for the 3 days -- I'm missing some iron in my diet. Where are the best places to stay around there? Should I mix it up and dive...

Need info for novice divers first trip to FL with 15 year old

Almost all checkout dives in Jax are done at one of the nearby springs (Troy, Peacock, Blue Grotto, Ginnie, etc). Easy checkouts for those who are a little uneasy about ocean diving. Not much ocean diving done here that time of year.

Who wants to dive a spring...

I wouldn't mind doing Troy one day next week. But don't get your hopes up about the paddle boat. Not much left and what's left is underwhelming (not to mention sometimes hard to get to...).

Shorts and a shirt or rash guard should be no problem. Have fun.

I've found a Sea Life camera, mask and a couple of weights.

    Diving in Jacksonville/Mayport

You can do the Eagle without going deeper than 100'. Most of the good stuff is 90 - 100'. When I did the Eagle I stayed above 95' the entire dive. Thunderbolt is a different story.

    Key West 7/17 Questions

Royal Caribbean usually plans their excursions with Stuart Cove's in Nassau. Many times you can get them to change the dive. Sometimes they'll run a couple of DMs and one will lead a 40' reef dive while the other runs a 100' wall dive.

    Blue spring...

That's fine. As for vacation, I save about 10 days a year for diving, so it wouldn't be much of a loss. But get over your cold and we'll do it some other time.

C'mon Jean, you know I don't mind. But I need to know if it's a definite so I can take the day off.

Suggestions for first time visitors in late June

I'm down in St. Pete Beach at around the same time, June 22 - 27. I've got some reservations with Narcosis Scuba on the morning of the 23rd and the afternoon of the 25th. I can change those plans if you have a better plan. AFAIK, no one else was booked and at least 4 are needed to make the...

    Vacationing in Tampa...

I will be there with the family this year from June 22nd - 27th and want to dive a couple of days. So if you locals can recommend operators and dive locations, it would be much appreciated. I was scheduled to go diving there in February with a few of you but that trip was cancelled. So if...

    Jacksonville diving question

Actually, I do most of my diving in Jax. The dive ops here really don't go that far offshore. Most of the time you can see the coast from the dive site. Mostly old barges and tugs that have plenty of targets for the spearfisherman. Occasionally you see a ray or turtle. Plenty of jellyfish...

    Muscles

I would tend to believe the SAC rate is more directly tied to aerobic fitness, not necessarily total muscle mass (physiologically speaking - comfort in the water and unecessary movement notwithstanding here). If muscle mass used up oxygen at an increased rate (at rest), then bodybuilders would...

    Diving in Jacksonville/Mayport

Yeah, I'm jonesing for a dive, soon. Unfortunately, Troy is closed due to the Suwannee (flooding). Hopefully, it will open up soon. If not, I may be hitting up the Grotto sooner rather than later.
