Dual agency PADI and Who would you chose

If the plan is to be a working dive bum (did it for several years, not knocking it at all), you'll most likely be in one of two positions: 1 - a dive guide that "teaches" all the time, but doesn't actually run any classes. In that case agency is irrelevant, just need to be an instructor. 2 -...

Dual agency PADI and Who would you chose

I don't think a dual credential with PADI and someone else would do anything for you. Everything else is pretty limited compared if you are looking at tropical tourist diving locations. If you are dead set on going this route, probably SSI or SDI would be the next most common, check with DEMA to...

For Sale Sony a7iv housing bundle

Free bump to inquire how you needed to modify the bayonet? I'm having a hard time finding a non-bayonet version, so I might be out of options otherwise. Having not seen the mount, I'm not understanding what the issue is. Thanks!

Question Is baby shampoo really that bad?

    Like any tropical location!

Question Is baby shampoo really that bad?

Spit works great! Including feeding the mold in your mask to help it grow to a nice black/brown/green "patina" around the edges of your lenses. Note: I try to use diluted baby shampoo spray, but will also spit if the spray is inconveniently located (ie it got left behind), both work fine. Mold...

I'm interested in the WWL. Isn't the 1-b version the one that doesn't connect with the marelux ports though?

Report on first deep hydrogen dive using a rebreather

Thanks for sharing that Simon! I have a question on the method of introducing hydrogen to the loop. Why was the decision made to blow the gas into the loop rather than have a premix that was switched to at depth and do a full dil flush? I know the volume of gas would have been significant at...

Grand Cayman - Looking for small group/boutique dive operator.

I was about 24 at the time, and he was "old" then...so probably over 30! Now I'm 50, he's definitely old.

Grand Cayman - Looking for small group/boutique dive operator.

Is that Tom Shropshire a pretty old guy (50's at least at this point) with a southern (Kentucky maybe?) accent, and drinks nothing but diet coke? If so, wow! He was my roomate in the Bahamas in 1998.

    New Halcyon Rebreather?

That is exactly what I was thinking! Or a LAR V. Years ago, I had thought about modifying a LAR V as a chest mounted bailout CCR (or a Draeger Dolphin more likely). Problems I came up with: 1- I had no use for a bailout CCR. 2- "Bailout CCR" isn't really a thing, it's just a dual CCR since you...

    Video Light for Cave Diving

That's great! So rare that a $20 piece of plastic solves problems in diving!

    BP/W Instructor for 10 yo?

How tall is she? That may make a bigger difference on BPW than anything else.

    DIR- Generic SPG location justification

Trying this again, apparently my first post got put in the sandbox... What is the GUE justification for SPG on the left hip vs on the left shoulder? Only reason I've come up with is at the 2 stage/deco cylinder level, with the SPG on the hip there are three clips on both d-rings, but with it on...

    Video Light for Cave Diving

Looks like you need something that is more diffused and brighter. I've had good luck with light and motion Sola video lights. Looks like they only have two options right now, either would work for what you want. Depending on your current dive lights, you could also give one of the Dive Rite...

Question Questions about Drysuit fins and air in feet

You might want to try some gaiters as well. Diverite makes some pretty good ones. Just know that the fabric part goes on the BACK of your calves, and they clip in front... unlike the picture on Diverites web site.

So do I need to repost my question someplace else? I did post it from work, which is a remote campus, so who knows what all VPN type things are happening.

Equipment A Dive to Remember: Overcoming Technical Hurdles with Teamwork

And freeflowing poseidon's will drain a tank real quick! I used to drain a set of double 100s from 3300 psi to about 1500 psi in less than 2 minutes at the surface.

    BARE Sentry Tech Drysuit

I have one. I was one of the beta testers, so I abused it for a year, including a bunch of 2-3 hour pool sessions in it with little to no rinsing. Main body of the suit is still in great shape. I probably have 150 hours in it at this point. I did have to recently replace the the zipper for a...
