Hello - my wife and I will be in Phuket for a couple of weeks around New Years. We are visiting my Dad and because we want to maximize our time with him, we have decided to do just a one night liveaboard trip.
Trying to decide between an overnight to Phi Phi (around 10,000 baht) or an overnight...
Well that's good. :D
I dove with just me and a DM once, while my wife was finishing her Open Water Cert dives with her instructor, and mid-dive I looked over at the DM and he had no octo......:shakehead: - it happens
Vancouver - location of my certification, and home
St. Maartin
Jamaica
Manzanillo
Cozumel - one of my favs
Puerto Vallarta
Roatan - my other fav
Cabo San Lucas
Great Barrier Reef
Goat Island NZ - near Auckland
off for a week in Oahu and a week in Kona this summer
drive the PCH - stop at whatever interests you along the way. Go south towards Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. South of there is Laguna Beach. A rented convertable would be a nice way to roll.........
Am I understanding correctly that when you say "buddy breathing" you mean they were sharing one reg, passing it back and forth, rather than having the diver breath from the DM's octo? If so, my point would be every diver should have a working octo - for a working DM to lead a group of divers and...
Ok, I don't mean to be redundant as I have already taken a look at the Maui-Kona thread, but I'd like to add one more island to the mix. My wife and I are planning a trip - one week on Oahu with friends and then one more week at our time share on either Kona, Maui or Kauai. It will be next July...
Santa Rosa Wall is one of my favs too. Palancar Bricks is nice as well. You'll find many great sites.....
As for exposure suit, I always wear a 3mm full suit in the tropics - never cold and provides full skin protection.
Have a great time - I am jealous.....
P90X is an awsome workout series - the best $100 you'll ever spend on a fitness infomercial. I've done it, and when I stick to it I am in the best shape of my life.
PM me if you have questions.....
Cheers,
Michael
The diving is gorgeous and we quite enjoyed Fantasy Island - tremendeous value for the money. Basic accomodations, decent food, cold beer and great people, all for a decent price.
PM me if you need more......
Cheers,
Michael
I know this sounds crazy, but I just can't do it in the water. :dork2: I have to be back on board - love dive boats with heads. I have no problem peeing off the back of the boat. Serious - I've ended dives because I've has to go so bad. :depressed:
Wow - what a post. I am glad you, and everybody else, are ok.
Here's what I would do if I were you - pick a good local dive shop and get involved with the people there. Maybe take a specialty class or even AOW if you feel up to it. My point is when you take a class you gain some potential new...
Wow - just found this thread today - the original post is a very good one.
I keep in good shape - run 10km 3 times a week and add weight training 2-3 times, kempo once a week. I get an annual physical - boy is that fun......
So I am writing to say thank you for the suggestion of a stress test...
Ya it should - I looked at it for 30 seconds thinking it didn't look right, but couldn't put my finger on it - good to see 4 years of University going to good use!:dork2:
Fair enough - point made, point taken - slang being what it is, he didn't get "hit" either.... ;)
"unexplained" may be a bit imprecise as well - if there always is a reason, there always is an explaination.....
Thank you for your post. You seemed to have followed all the rules, so I'd chalk this up as an undeserved hit. It is a reminder to all of us that everything we do - all the rules/recommendations/habits/policies - to minimize the risks do just that - minimize the risk. We all take a risk...
Good post. We all make mistakes and the good ones learn from them.
Try buying a mini-retractor and clip you guages to it - I like it....Keeps the guages out of the way right off the bat, they are always handy, never drag.....
BTW - I jumped on a dive boat once without my reg in my mouth -...
When I dive with two knives, it is a larger one strapped to the inside of my left calf - I am right handed, and the second is a smaller bc knife, attached horizontally to my waistband - again left side. Most of the time I just dive with the bc knive......considering shears
Welcome, Mickeyman. A word or two of advice - if your diveshop offers a drysuit option with their Open Water class, it would be good to do it. You'll be much warmer. You'll find most people here in the NW dive dry.....
Good Luck!
