Finally Got my BP/W setup, umm...now what?

Ok, that said, what advantage does a STA give you? And I realize that I can dive with a rec wing, and thank you for the counts of personal experience, But if I will be happier with a smaller wing better suited to my diving then I would rather sell this one now as it looks brand new and I will...

What type of boat to buy??

I'm currently looking at a Wellcraft Sportsman. They are wide open, the hull is actually taken from Wellcrafts offshore Center Consoles but they have seating for guests and wide open space for diving. A very comfortable and versatile boat.

Boat rental in St. Augustine, Florida

All of the boat rental places I know only allow you to boat the ICW. I think you'd be better off seeking out a charter.

    Rigid Inflatables?

I have owned no less than ten RIBS and currently I have a 16' Zeppelin with an OMC 70hp. Ribs have huge benefits for diving. they are very stable and experience way less roll than other boats of comparable size. This makes them easier to gear up in. They are fast and agile. They can run in very...

    Rent or own?

With all due respect, Keep in mind that this equipment is your life support. If you plan to only make a single dive trip each year then your skills are going to be rusty and you will be at a higher risk in my opinion. This is all the more reason to own your own gear and keep it perfectly...

Legal & other issues from SG Mishap

This is true but.....(I will use Ginnie Springs as an example) If you go to Ginnie and can not prove you are qualified for cave or cavern diving, then you are not allowed to enter the water carrying tools of that trade. From what I have read (and please mind that because all facts are unknown...

3 Divers lost on the Spiegel Grove

A dive reel and a single al80 on their back and the boat operator let them get off the boat? It does'nt seem to me that the boat operator used very good judgement if this is true. If they brought a dive reel with them then they had obvious plans to penetrate and the boat operator should have...

    Dive boat

Bring some cash, If the charter goes well and you decide that you will want to accompany that operation again, then tip the crew of the vessel. A 10-15% tip will go a long way in making sure that you are remembered and "appreciated" in future trips. I dive frequently with the same operations...

    Do you smoke

I smoke, and I can safely say that I am usually the last person to the surface. Someone also mentioned that "you need your lungs for diving" , well, true as that is, I need them for walking, running, maintaining conciousness and a lot of other things that take place above the surface of the...
