Best post so far. Perhaps consider "did get away with this", rather than "can...".

@tep that was a nice, well reasoned comment.

    DIVING OVER 50 YEARS OLD

No, you are correct. However, the "clearance" is required in the event of a "yes". A "yes" does not mean you can't dive, a "yes" simply means you need ensure that you are okay to dive.

Finding a physician who actually knows about diving.

I don't think any of the "agencies" will accept a medical clearance with "conditions".

    "Check bubbles"

Most of the first stages on our pool regs seem to be the Sherwoods. We have no end of students getting antsy about it even though they are told.

Widow sues medical doctor and training company

Oh please...I never said they were experts in diving phsyiology. That being said, you have no idea what those folks that I deal with know, and more importantly know about me.

Widow sues medical doctor and training company

I lead a very charmed life. I have no issues accessing folks who are knowledgable about diving. My family doctor, dentist, dental surgeon, and dermatologist all dive. No such luck with the oncologist and endocrinologist, though.

    PADI logged dive??

Yes, that is true, however it there is a paper log, it must be signed - it's in bold. If the student has a "digital log" in OW, for example (i.e. scuba earth) the Instructor still has to vet the log online. Let's pick nits.

    PADI logged dive??

In the PADI world, instructional dives must be logged and signed by the Instructor. Other than the above condition, logs don't have to be signed to count for the few PADI courses that require documentation of dives completed.

PADI RDP... shallow water data extrapolation

Goodness, that is a pretty extreme reaction to a reasoned comment.

Any good OW dives in Cozumel?

That's what we did upon going to Cozumel after we were first certified. Smartest thing we did. Incredibly inexpensive and we learned a lot from him, about Cozumel underwater and about the island itself. Well worth doing.

What Do the OW Checkout Dives Consist Of?

Ah... That wouldn't have occurred to me. We keep them during the class and pool stuff, filling them in as we progress. However, since it is incredibly rare up here that you will do the OW dives with the same student, the students keep their logbooks after completing the class and pool...

What Do the OW Checkout Dives Consist Of?

You are getting the answers. Something not mentioned...if it is PADI, just look in your logbook. It tells you exactly what skills must be done on each dive, and what "dive flexible" skills have to be done (i.e. skills that can be done on any dive). You will find those on the logbook pages...

    PADI "Looking Good" Certification

We "teach" it. It's an absolute blast. It turns into a big social event and often gets "coverage" beyond just the dive folks.
