I am enjoying very much this information as I am thinking about a group trip to the Maldives in 2025. I do have a question, for anyone reading: there was evidently a major coral die off in 2016 and I'm wondering what the current state of the coral, and marine life in general is compared to...
I'm headed to Cozumel on March 6 (fully vaccinated!) and it seems like the car rental company I usually use (Fox) is no longer in business.
Of the rental companies at the airport, are there any differences in price or service? Do you have a favorite?
Thank you.
Awfully glad to be diving...
Just received my InReach Mini and retiring my Fastfind 220 PLB. For me the ability to have two way communication is just too compelling. I've carried the PLB for 9 years, but I've always wondered what it would be like to activate in an emergency and have no real idea whether it's working, or...
I'm selling my Atomic Z1 with a Sherwood Standard Octopus and BC inflator hose on Ebay. Opening bid $175, no reserve. I replaced all the plastic parts of the Z1 so it looks like new, and the Sherwood was barely used. I had the Z1 regularly serviced, as well as the Sherwood, but the...
I bought my nephew this lens as a Christmas gift and ordered the Canon model by mistake. Ordered directly from Japan so I can't return it.
I paid $479 for it and I just want to recover my outlay. That's about $100 less than the US price I think.
email me at saudio AT earthlink.net if...
Three trips this year, my favorite from each. As it turns out, macro, mid range, and wide angle :-)
Goby on Yellow Sponge, from Puerta Galera, Philippines
Friendly Grouper from Little Cayman
Soft coral on a deep wall, Wakatobi, Indonesia.
More is better, but I use a 13 cu foot because it's small enough that I will never be be caught without it because it was just to big and heavy to bother with. I've traveled all over the world with my pony tank and reg in checked luggage, and I never dive without it. I'm a photographer and I'm...
I know this is a bag of worms, but I back mount mine because I'm a photographer and slinging it gets in my way. I mount the tank upside down so I can easily reach the valve to check it's status, and I dive with the valve turned on and ready to use.
I don't do technical or penetration dives...
Agree. One reason, among others, for having a pony bottle is to be able to start breathing an alternate air source with the fewest numbers of steps between an OOA emergency and breathing again. If you are carrying a pony tank with the valve closed you are adding at least three steps to the...
I think if you have committed to macro, and only one lens, I'd go with the housing/body of your choice that fits your budget (I'm a Canon/Nauticam shooter but there are other good choices) and go with a 60 macro lens and a SubSee 10X diopter with swing mount.
I prefer the 100mm macro lens...
I'm seriously asking what happened there. I can't tell from the video. You seem to be out of air, then call over your son, who tries to get you to use the regulator around your neck. You try that reg then switch back. I'm curious what actually happened.
Wow. I'm trying to follow the sequence there. So, you ran out of air on your main tank, you had a pony reg bungeed around your neck, then called your son over, who reminded you to use the pony reg? Then the pony tank was turned off?
So did you turn the tank back on and surface with it? Or...
