Our swift water team has NRS Triton extreme drysuits and we have trouble with the boots (latex) developing holes near the ankle during storage. Has anyone had any experience with ankle seals instead of the boots for this type of work? We have temperature extremes from warm water to ice during...
That's what our dive team uses on our inflatable rescue boat. Humminbird's 3D technology has put underwater imaging in the hands of teams that never could have afforded it before. It has become a very valuable tool for us.
Hello California divers!
My wife and I will be in the Los Angeles area over the weekend of June 22/23. My 11 year old daughter was just certified and I'm looking for some easy diving that they might enjoy, and an idea of what conditions to expect so that I know what gear to pack for them...

Man pulled from pickup submerged in pond | Wichita Eagle
---------- Post added April 9th, 2013 at 12:32 PM ----------
The individual was resuscitated and transported in critical condition to a local hospital after fire department divers pulled him from the vehicle...
If you have the money and the time, you should definitely learn both systems so you can use whatever tool you need for the dive (and team) you are doing. Both have advantages and disadvantages, some of which are hotly debated by persons with far more experience and knowledge than the little...
Have a dive buddy who is getting rid of some of his extra gear and I offered to list it here for him. Location is Wichita, Kansas but can arrange shipping. Tanks will be for pick-up or if you're patient, I can bring them to cave country on my next trip down.

I had thought about Peacock too. That reel or spool can serve as more than just a physical guideline for you to follow in poor vis. It can mentally confirm what you know to be true - this is the way out because I put this here.
If by pre-gapped you mean setting the spool or reel on the 'return' side then picking it up as you complete the circuit, all in one dive, I've done that and didn't see any problem at all with it.
Sorry wasn't trying to be insulting when I asked about the parachute cord. I just wanted to be sure I understood your setup. I have actually seen a couple people with no bungees and just carrying their 'sidemount' tanks like conventional stages.
If you move the lower cam bands towards the top...
Are you using bungees at all on the fronts of the tanks, or just parachute cord and boltsnaps?
If you go with the ring bungees you should do the whole setup (stage straps, chokers) and then tinker from there if you need to.
We make long dives in 50 degree water around here pretty regularly and I dive with 3mm gloves. I have also used 5mm gloves with the fingertips cut off. Tolerance plays into it I'm sure. But I also dive in a nice warm drysuit and suspect that my core being warm means better circulation to my...
The DIR/GUE training programs are top notch. Gear selection can play into this as well.
You CAN achieve great buoyancy and trim and learn different propulsion techniques without them. It'll be harder without a talented instructor to guide you, but a good mentor or buddy will make it easier than...
Most of the time around here it is zero viz searching. But if I were to encounter a situation where I had a little, I'd definitely use some type of anti-silting propulsion.
Of course that assumes the viz is good enough I'm not searching with my hands in the first place, which does a pretty good...
