    Dutch Springs - First Impressions

Two words.... ZEBRA MUSSELS :D! I've been diving DS for years with students and just for fun. I really enjoy all the attractions and especially the opposite side of the quarry by the stairs (awesome view!). I mean, really, Bus, boats, planes, helicopter, deuce & 1/2, firetruck, hidden hole...

    Drysuit maintenance

I've used quite a few different types of undergaments (polartec, thinsulate, etc). I wash them with the tide detergent that has no dye/perfume and use only half the amount needed in the cup. Never had a problem with warmth, water repelling, or any other issues after using detergent. They're...

    Wetsuit replacement

I dive NJ waters plenty (I live in south NJ). When I used to dive wetsuits, I dove a Mares Isotherm and I also dove the AquaFlex 7mm. I was quite comfortable in both in water down to 45F - 50F degrees. I have been diving dry for over 3 years but I am not going to tell you to go dry just...

    drysuit underwear suggestions

I do agree with Jax in recommending Fourth Element. I did my ice dive specialist in February and used my F.E. Arctics (Arctic Extreme Performance Drysuit Undersuit : Fourth Element). I was toasty warm (I used a Patagonia Capilene 3 under, underwear) and my first and second dives were 40 and 30...

UK SL4 LED w/cree R2 and LEDs for halcyon scout

I'll let you know after I dive the light next weekend. I'm sure the P7 will be fine. I may even want both options, depending on conditions & location.

UK SL4 LED w/cree R2 and LEDs for halcyon scout

I just tried out your P7 drop and it's pretty damn bright@ In fact it gives my AquaSun a run for the money. My only concern is that it might be too much flood (I was hoping for a tighter beam pattern), maybe I should have looked into a smooth reflector? I won't get to dive it for another...

    4th element artic buoyancy?

All I can say is that I find my arctics to be very comfortable and toasty! I also really like that they are two piece, so I can always remove the top or the bottom portion individually. These are also the only undergarments I have ever tried (well, I did try the DUI powerstrech, but didn't...

    4th element artic buoyancy?

I use the xerotherm arctics under my DUI FLX 50/50 (I use patagonia capilene 3 as a base layer or underarmour shorts and tee if it's a bit warmer). I find myself using a decent amount of extra weight to sink the arctics. My tanks are X-130's (single/steel) and I find myself using about 16lbs...

    DUI Rock boot laces

RockBoot System I had no problems cutting the excess (my feet are comically small, so I had a BUNCH of excess :D). I used a lighter to flame the cut laces. Never had a problem in 2 years with the laces.

Technique for getting the ABS buckle off a Mares fin?!

I've got Springs for my wetsuit boots and another larger set for my Drysuit/Rockboots. For what it's worth I really like the ones (Innovative EZ or something to that effect) I got off leisurepro.

Technique for getting the ABS buckle off a Mares fin?!

Chris, Oh... You do have to rotate just a little bit (but it's more to clear the side of the fin than anything else). Did you get the buckles off yet? If not, here is another old post that might help...

Technique for getting the ABS buckle off a Mares fin?!

It's very easy. Make sure they are "unlocked". Then completely open the buckle (lift up on the gray portion of the buckle) then just push the portion that is over the "mushroom cap" forward and they should pop off. It's MUCH easier to do it then to describe it. I can take some photos tomorrow...

    Thinsulate cleaning options

I have had no problem when using laundry detergent made for babies and infants. It has no dyes or perfumes as is very gentle on any fabric (I'm sure there are also hypoallergenic detergents that would do the same). I use cold water and wash my undergarments only on the "delicate/hand washing"...

    ZipGloves - Blue or Orange?

Jessica, I just got to try out a pair of zipgloves this weekend and I thought they were fantastic! I had no problem doffing or donning my drysuit at all! Opened my eyes to a new level of comfort (I never could get my neoprene gloves on comfortably over the zipseals). But, this was my first...

Fourth Element Clothing in US LDS

I had the same situation a few months ago. I was actively trying to locate the F.E. products and none of my LDS carried them. I got in contact with Michelle at Silent Diving (they distribute the F.E. products in the U.S.). She greatly helped me out and had the sizes of the Xerotherm and...

Any advice for first time using a drysuit?

Well... all DUI dump valves are on the left arm. Or, you can raise both. It'll look like you hung yourself up to dry :D
