Galileo Sol: a few questions for users

I agree on the spare batteries. But one thing I've noted after diving a SOL for almost a year. The battery gauge will drop a notch after a dive, but when turned off the battery will recover over night and show full the next day. I've had mine for almost a year and over 80 dives and the battery...

    Lift capacity and depth?

Thanks Tobin. That's what this discussion needed. Actual facts, data and and the relative science and calculations.

    Lift capacity and depth?

The lift relationship to depth has to do with the effects of pressure on the air inside the BC bladder. This is very noticeable as you change depths, but most noticeable during ascent. In other words as you descend you will need to add air to the BC to maintain neutral buoyancy and of course...

    Regulator hose setup/Atomic Z2

I have the Z2 as well and your original setup is what I use. You might try swapping your transmitter to the HP port on the other side. I did this and it still works fine (not sure if your using your other HP Port). I've seen folks mount their turrets facing up all though I don't like this setup...

I get errors related to Microsoft Data objects, but just select continue and ignore. The software eventual does open up and works fine.

    Bringing Italy to America

This makes sense and also means that a reg that is hard breathing upside down could be tuned/improved by decreasing the cracking pressure. I'm sure however at the expense that it would be more likely to free flow. I'll have to dig my old MR11 out of storage and do a little experimenting.

    Bringing Italy to America

Yep tested them all the way you described. Actually The test I do is a little past full inverted. By that I mean head down and feet up but a little over rotated so that your angled slightly so you can see the surface more than your feet. I found that most regs are challenged in this position...

    Bringing Italy to America

I find it amusing that you didn't like Atomic, but love Scuba Pro. These are very similar designs and I've found they breath pretty much the same. In fact the Atomic engineers used to work for Scuba Pro and all their designs are based on the work these two engineers did while employed at Scuba...

    Aeris Atmos LX

I have the Atoms XT. It's basicly last years version of the LX. I really like this BC. They have made some nice improvements with the LX. Most notably is the new weight pockets design which makes for a more streamlined BC. The hybrd bladder works well. My only complaint is the Areris/Oceanic...

What kind of regulator is this?

It's a Performance Diver PDXL. Don't know much about the company or their products, but it seems new products are still available in Australia. Found the following article about the PDXL regulators: http://www.undercurrent.org/UCnow/issues/y1995/ID1195/NavyRatingsDebate1195i.pdf

    Dive Software

I agree concerning the lag with many computers. My Oceanic Pro Plus2 has a lag closer to 4 or 5 minutes in adjusting to temprature changes. However my Cochran EMC16 and Sensus Ultra have very little lag. Set at 30 sec invervals the Cocharan is fairly accurate and the Sensus runs pretty close at...

    Dive Software

I can relate to your issues with Oceanic and Vista. I use both. I download my Pro Plus2 to Oceanic and my Sensus Ultra to Divinglog. Both programs have things I like and dislike. Divelog for example does not import or download temprature slices in the dive profile data. Neither programs graph...

    OceanLog beta version 2.1.4 Available

Sac rate calculations are still garbage. I use imperial and PSI. For example: Starting pressure: 3350 Ending Pressure: 750 Working Pressure: 3442 Dive time: 61 minutes Avg Depth: 46.2 SAC Rate: Should be (.515) Shows (1.238)

    OceanLog beta version 2.1.4 Available

Doug, I just want to say thanks to Oceanic for taking feedback and working bugs and suggestion into the software. I think it's a class act to include the "voice of the customer" in responding to software updates. -Bryan

    OceanLog beta version 2.1.4 Available

Yes I'm aware of the work around. But it's just that a work around and it's a hassle to have to catch the 2 sec interval in the boot up process that you have to press F8. FTDI LTD (The USB chipset manufacturer) has an updated Vista driver, all Oceanic has to do is update the INF file for...

    OceanLog beta version 2.1.4 Available

Thanks Doug, By the way for Vista 64 bit version we need a new x64 bit USB driver. The one on the website will not work because it's unsigned and Vista now requires all drivers to be signed. -Bryan

    What Aeris BC

I also have the Atmos XT and for the most part am very pleased with it. Two things about it that bug me, the tank strap slip on rubber pad/velcro thingy and the inflater. Both are minor things, but I really wished Areis/Oceanic would get rid of that inflater and the slip on for the tank strap is...
