Couple detained in Cozumel until chamber bill paid

Don’t leave home without it! Five minutes before we boarded the Febrina in PNG, Capt. Raabe insisted the one couple that didn’t have DAN must purchase it online right on the dock. Guess who took a 50k helicopter flight 3 days into the cruise? I would wager that the helicopter would not...

    Sea sickness and liveaboards

Another vote for scopolamine. I battled mal de mer for decades. I first got seasick when I was 14, on my first ocean dive. I have been seasick numerous times and to different degrees on the ocean and even our local lakes until I tried the patch. Since I’ve used the patch, I haven’t been...

    Cozumel Mexico and Sudafed

Yes, loratadine is a fine antihistamine- but the million dollar question is whether a very effective nasal decongestant , pseudoephedrine, will land you in the hoosegow. Does anybody have current info regarding the regulations to which BRT refers?

Northern wrecks and reefs OR day boat out of Hurghada...

I have an opportunity to dive Northern Wrecks and reefs on a great liveaboard at a fantastic price in December. But I'm wondering if the best day boat diving out of Hurghada or Marsa would be better? I've never been to the Red Sea, but I've read that the diving gets better the farther south you go

Diving in Northern Viti Levu (Rakiraki) Looking for experience with operators

I dove with Volivoli 3 years ago. Great Operator. Will go the extra mile to put you on the best sites. I dove with the previous operator at Wannanavu about 10 years ago so my info would be too stale to be of use.

Are Finns bad divers? Thread split

My post is anecdotal, so take it for what it is worth. I spent a week with two Finnish divers on a Komodo liveaboard a few years ago. They were both excellent divers who were quite safety minded. I really enjoyed divng and spending surface interval time with them. The Finnish educational system...

    Hold-up at Tawali

I really hate to hear this. All the people at Tawali were so kind to us when we were there last year. I still think your chances are better at Tawali than Little Rock Arkansas.

Wetsuit for Galapagos first week of July

Thanks for the information, Bob. Looks like 5mm territory with vest & beanie to me. Since my OP, I've read that there can be thermoclines down to the high fifties. Anyone got the scoop on thermoclines in late June/early July?

Will a 3mm full Pinnacle plus a 2mm vest and beanie be enough for land based 2 dives a day in July?

Is it possible to dive Indonesia on a budget? What are your recommendations?

In a word— Bali. It’s a long way from Arkansas, but I’ve been four times. Big stuff, little stuff, wreck diving, and the most exotic above water adventures. Love it!

    2017 Mola Spotting in Bali

Our mola2 spotting is over for the year. Out of 18 dives, we saw mola2 on 3 dives-- all at Crystal Bay. We were the first divers in the water this morning at Crystal Bay, but no mola today. Thanks to Cedric, Liv, James , and Komang at Gekko Dive-- your hospitality and professionalism is...

    2017 Mola Spotting in Bali

Very nice to meet you, Luko. Traveling mercies to you . We saw mola molas again in crystal bay today. Not sure if we saw four molas-- or two molas twice. We saw the first one early in the first dive. The cold upwelling seemed far up into the bay close to where we began our dive. Molas were...

Thinking about visiting Komodo for diving

I have only done komodo by LOB. Seems like the best way to dive it to me. Komodo is one of my favorite dive destinations. It's sensory overload. Get your wife to try scopolamine if she hasn't tried it for sea sickness. Go, don't hesitate.

    2017 Mola Spotting in Bali

WOW! This is exciting! I love diving Bali. I think it's very under rated. Bang for buck its real hard to beat.
