My deepest heart felt condolences. She will not be forgot and will live on through her posts here on SB. Lynne's advice will continue to help divers become better. Peter, my thoughts are with you and your family.

I am quoting Christi just to reiterate what she is saying. Everyone is responsible for their own safety, this includes carrying an SMB and being able to use it.

My recommendation would be to hop on the 8:00 am ferry to PDC on Saturday morning. Travel south to Tulum and drop your luggage off prior to diving. Then do 2 dives in the Tulum area. They are all good! OR if you were to dive at Dos Ojos or Chac Mool, I would have no problem leaving my luggage in...
It is a guide, I recognize the wetsuit and blue webbing. The photo is at Chac Mool and most likely taken by Ivan or Ceasar.
I would also say that there has been no retouching of the photo, the natural conditions there produce amazing pictures.

With less than 100 dives, I don't think you would be much of an author in regard to scuba.
You don't know how to redirect to the site with your free book.... I wasted a few minutes trying to find your free book but could only find the one for $12.45... I am not going to purchase it for a few...
You have been incorrectly informed, as have a few open water divers that have been on a guided cavern dive.
It is recommended that the minimum certification for a guided cavern dive be advanced open water.
It should be explicit that you are in an overhead environment and may be as far as 200' /...
NOT AT ALL.
The divers were open water certified and they were not to be on a cave dive - they didn't need cave training for what they signed up for. They signed up for a guided cavern dive (aka a Cenote Dive), something that can be enjoyed safely by open water divers, if a qualified guide who...
IMO with the information that I have and my experience as a cave instructor, this accident is the fault of the guide. He did not adhere to the rules that are to be followed as a certified cavern diver, let alone a guide leading open water divers. This accident occurred because of the poor...
IMO Civil Protection has not used the law or regulation to produce a list, nor have they advised the vast majority of land owners that they need to be on a "List".... They have shown up at a couple of cenotes and ask that certain items be addresses, Chac Mool was one of those Cenotes that Civil...
If a complete briefing was provided risk is minimized, if the topics/rules discussed during that briefing were adhered to risk is minimized, if the guide maintained control of the group risk is minimized. In my opinion at least one item (complete briefing, following of the rules and maintain...
Another option in the Akumal/BAhia Principe area are the dive shops in Akumal which is only 5 min by taxi from the resort.
I personally use Akumal Dive Shop and really like the layout of the shop and the staff. When I do an open water course, open water referal or tech training and need a boat...
Yes, an open water diver (though advanced certification is recommended) can dive in a cenote with a proper guide.
No an open water diver cannot dive in a cenote by himself without a guide.
Many cenotes will not let you in without a recognized guide. World wide over 400 open water divers have...
Deco has a lot to do with it. Open water divers follow there computers and when the no stop time approaches 4 or 5 minutes they start their assent to the surface, gaining bottom time as the ascend.
Cavern divers don't have that ability, they need to plan the dive so they are back at the...
Mike, Actually you are not certified to dive in caverns unless you have the appropriate overhead training, ie: cavern certification.
Without this training how is an open water diver to know what the guidelines of safe cavern diving are? For instance, you didn't even mention that fact that a...
No issue in Mexico when you show a TDI card.
Though many dive sites don't ask for the card, most instructors and guides do want to see the cert card before diving with you.

I am not a doctor. What I think is happening is that the cells in my ears are becoming saturated, they then swell and cause mild pain. I think that if I dried them or used a drop to assist in the drying of my ears, I wouldn`t have an issue.
Also, thanks to Don`s post above!!!

I haven`t had any problems in the 12 years (4 as a tourist and 8 as a full time cenote guide) that I have been diving here with the exception of a mild ear ache. My post dive routine does not include any sort of drops, though if I would remember to, I would use an alcohol and vinegar mix letting...
From the Mayan Palace you could go north to Puerto Morelos and dive with Bret at http://www.diveinpuertomorelos.com/ or head south to Playa del Carmen, you really are in the middle of those two centers. I can recommend Mexico...
