Really really awful. I was diving about 20 km west of the location where the accident happened at the exact same time on Saturday morning. It's so weird to think of how while I was enjoying myself in the water, something awful was happening not far away. I don't know any more details about the...
I dive with my mk25 in water as cold as 35F, sometimes even super chilled down to 32-33. As long as it is salt water, my mk25 has been fine. Freshwater I will pretty much guarantee you an mk25 will freeze in those kinds of temperatures, which mine did just two weeks ago. I want to set myself up...
Just wondering if anyone has tried the new (at least I think it's new) MK 19. It looks like they took the mk17 and added a swivel turret like on their mk 25. I also read a thing or two about how they tried to over balance it hoping to make it a little more popular with the tech divers. I'm...
I'm likely going with a custom suit anyway. If I'm going to spend that kind of money I might as well spend another couple dollars for something that fits and functions the way I want it to.
Good to know that they are nice suits, thanks guys. I'm leaning towards neoprene seals, but I may want to go with a set of dry gloves. I wonder if it is possible to do neoprene around the neck and latex for the wrists.. I'll have to ask my LDS owner. Anyhoo, thanks allot!
I'm looking at buying my first dry suit folks, and Atlan is a name I am considering. I;m torn between the Catalina comp (4 ml compressed neoprene with a front zipper) and the sport (regular 7 ml neoprene with a rear shoulder zip). Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these suits...
No I didn't get the primary shut down. at first I thought it was the second stage that was free flowing, untill my octo started going as well. When I came up out of the hole I had someone shut my air off and they said "hey man, you're first stage is a block of ice." I may actually switch my...
Well I'm glad I had this thing on the weekend, because I had to use it when my 1st stage (SP mk 25) free flowed on an ice dive. I'm going to have to look in to a different first stage for my future ice dives.
I tried it out yesterday. I felt kinda silly because we were only doing some navigation practicing in a little inlet, and I only found about 18 feet of depth. I don't think the pony was necessary haha. Either way, you're right, I could hardly tell it was there. The regulator breaths nicely too...
Let's take this conversation in a different direction shall we. How do you think you could make yourself a better diver. This is an opportunity for us to air out all out bad habbits.
Myself:
-Although I feel I'm pretty goof on keeping an eye on my buddy, and comunicating with him/her (both in...
I am pretty new to this sport, but I am very keen, and in my somewhat limited experience as a diver, here is what I think makes a diver a good diver. Feel free to add / critique this list as you see fit.
So in no particular order:
A good diver should always know whats going...
I was initially considering ergonomics when I wanted to go with the smaller 19, but several people have told me that a pony slung under the arm is hardly noticeable no matter what size it is, so I went with the much more functional 30, which really wasn’t much more expensive.
yea went out to his place and had a look and it was indeed a 14 cuft. I think he was a little hard at seeing and couldn't tell the difference between the 4 and a 9.. He didn't want to budge on the price, and I could have gotten a new 14 cuft for about $25 more. I talked to my LDS owner and he's...
Hi all
I am contemplating weather or not to buy an older pony bottle from a club member. I would like to have my own pony for an ice diving course that is coming up. it is a 19 cuft aluminum bottle that was hydro'd in june 07. my only concern is it is only rated to 2015 psi while most new...
