    rbk amputee starting to dive

With any sort of elevated suction the idea is to keep outside air from getting in between the knee sleeve and The liner. In underwater condition I generally advise pulling the sealing sleeve up over the top of the inner liner so that it also seals against the skin. This prevents intrusion of...

    rbk amputee starting to dive

Obviously I'm late to this thread. I'm a prosthetist who dives and has built several dive legs. I recommend the freestyle foot over the active ankle. The active ankle is pretty fragile. As for suspension I use a waterproof sealing pin system with external knee sleeve for auction. This set...

    Amputee diver

I've had great luck converting old otto bock single axis locking knees into swim ankles. This knee is the sort of thing that your prosthetist would have laying around. It's a fairly straight forward conversion. I'm putting one together right now should be done shortly after memorial weekend...

    "Drop Foot" and scuba diving

Sorry That I'm so Late replying here. I've been pretty lax about checking the board here lately. I'm opperating off of the assumption that you are utilizing some sort of AFO (ankle foot orthosis) to assist with your drop foot while walking. It would be relatively simple to modify an off the...

How to restore pocket watch found in water

Actually.. . . If you can get the case cleaned up a good watch shop could put a new movement in it. Years ago my neighbor found a gold pocket watch while metal detecting on my property (Sight of an old squaredance barn that burned) and he got it cleaned up and had a new movement put in it. I...

    Pneumatic vs. band

Your link didn't work for me. But, While we are on the subject of nasty pneumatic accidendts I thought I might dig this one up for grins. Pneumatic Cocker = Bad Idea -> Graphic - Spearboard Spearfishing Community

    Looking for others...

All the amputees that I dive with have a real fondness for the little retractable gear keepers. Other than that it's all about planning. Most of them spear with pneumatics because they find them easier to cock with one hand. I have a patient that spears with a band gun and we made him a...

Anyone ever dive down into a well?

Actually had the opportunity to dive a well over the weekend. Although this might be cheating. The local lakes here displaced several small towns. in one cove there is still a brick silo standing and on another there is a good sized brick cistern. Probably 12 feet diameter and pretty deep...

Anyone ever dive down into a well?

As a Kid we used to Clean wells all the time. Typically these were being actively pumped at the time. These were brick lined cysterns many of which had been in service for over a hundred years. We were cleaning them as maintenance as these folks were still using them as water for their farms...

    Fin Recommendation

I know a scuba diving hip disartic.. . Whenever I find a really nice single fin while diving I give it to him. He now has quite the assortment to choose from.

    Looking for a mini spear.

They all will work.. . But you need to make sure that you use a kill spike. Lionfish can keep on cruising with a hole or two in them and all you've done is teach them to be afraid of scubadivers.

    Fin Recommendation

I've built a Several dive legs over the years now. Two for a above the knee amputees and three-ish for below the knee. The effectiveness of the prosthesis goes down the shorter the residual limb. For a short above the knee amputee the free dive fins are really the way to go.

    Wheels for tank and BCD

Yeah.. . Google "Wheeled Scuba Tank Boot" no handle but that's what that valve on top is for. All the reviews say that because the wheel base is narrow the it works ok with just the tank but not so well with a BCD attatched. Right now they can be had on ebay for $15ish

    Sea Scooters with adaptions ?

Another thought.. . And I havn't gone looking for a video or anything. There used to be an old popular science project (and I believe that these were also available comercially) that was a wing that was towed by a boat. You did hold on but you were attatched primarily through a waist belt and...
