I learned to dive while stained in Germany...its HUGE there...every lake is like a NASCAR race...full of divers. Several shops in Frankfurt but i found the prices went down when you got out of the city. Almost every descent size town has a LDS.

Is this the Quarry near Lake Norman? I did the New years day dive there a few years ago. It was a good time but didnt bring any of my own gear and rented a 3mm and froze my you know what off.....great time though

I got certified in Hiedelberg was there for 5 years, US Army, Just left this year. There are a couple dive shops in a 15 min drive. This is a PADI shop and most speak english and they have a british instructor Achim´s Tauch-Oase: PADI 5* IDC Center There are a few more but the names slip my mind...

I have read both and both were enjoyable, but I have given Shadow Divers to many on my non diving friends to read and they loved. It dosent read as dry as alot of non fiction books and sparked some intrest from friends to give diving a try.

I asked my local welding supply store about there oxygen. The answer was that ""technically" we dont have medical grade O2 but we have filled tanks for divers in the past." Is this safe? It would sure cut down on the problems of getting O2 filled from a medical supply store.

I learned that my dive buddy (wife) doesnt like walls. On our first salt water dive in Curacao we took a nice shore dive out to the reef and at 35 feet it drops off on a nice wall down to about 90 feet. we got out over the edge and she didnt care for that. Never seen anyone "run" in the water...

I have 2 size E O2 tanks and since I moved from Germany back to the states had to empty both, so here is my question. Do the tanks need any type of inspections ,like our air tanks, other then the visual from the filler? I f so who would/could do it?

CURACAO- My wife and I went in May and had a great time. The diving was fantastic. We stayed at the "Habitat" which was a very nice place. The only down fall was that is on the other side of the island from the city, but the do offer a free shuttle to and from. They also rent cars pretty cheap...

I wouldnt be able to figure out how my gear goes together without my morning coffee! I drink coffee before every dive, but I also drink coffee everyday anywhere from 1-2 pots. I have read and understand that caffine is dangerous but it would be more dangerous for my dive buddies if I didnt.

I took part in one in Germany run through our LDS. We cleeaned up a few local lakes. WOW what a great time and a feeling of accomplishment.

I have used signal mirrors several times, never during diving though, thankfully. Nothing better for signaling at long distances. Try looking in a military surplus store. The military has been using them forever. Cheap and unbreakable piece of life saving equipment.
