did my dives at the weekend. 2 boat dives down to 22m. Water temp between 30-33deg C. My buoyancy control wasn't the best and I really hoovered in my air. Don't think having a bad chest infection in the 2 weeks up to my dive helped in that. Was also using Apeks RK3 fins for the first time and...
Only done a few of dives since I came back to Dubai. 2 off Jumeirah Beach and a couple up at Dibba. Did over 20 in the year I lived here previously.
Have a couple of dives booked up at Khasab in a few weeks. Just put my reg in for servicing and ordered some new fins. Hopefully an improvement on...
Coming back to diving after a bit of a break. Still a novice at around 25 dives.
I am very buoyant. Can sit cross legged in the water of our swimming pool.
When I dived last year i did a refresher course and really struggled removing the BCD due to my natural buoyancy. As soon as it came off...
think we are paying slightly below S$900 for 3 nights including all meals and transfer to and from Singapore.
diving prices are on their website. I plan to do a 2 tank dive and will also take a tank to accompany my wife when she does a discover scuba course.
another even closer option is Pulau Sibu.
Am going there next month with the Mrs. Will be my first dive since I moved here last September from Dubai. i do miss just being able to jump into the car for 1.5 and head to Fujairah for a dive at the weekend.
Am planning to move to Singapore in October. Looks like diving will be a little more complicated than the 2 hour drive I currently have up to the Indian Ocean coast of the Emirates. Normally only get 5-10m viz but its sounds better than Singapore.
As an update I did 2 dives last week with the Palms Dive centre at the JAL Hotel Dibba.
I have previously seen their decent sized Catamaran dive boat out on the water but when I got there it was out on the slipway. So we went out on a small rib for 2 minutes out to Dibba Rock(2 minutes but they...
my BC is a Scubapro T-Force which is rather bulky and padded.
usually dive at Fujairah. can't say I find the weight a problem except when getting back on the boat when I prefer to remove my BC. but thats more precautionary due to a very bad old knee injury.
I'm a bit on the large side and found that the Cressi BC's at teh Dive Centre where I did my OW didn't fit me all that well.
Bought myself a Scubapro T-Force BC and have been very happy with it.
Ok I'm a newbie but on all 16 dives I've done spit has done the job fine. never had the slightest problem with fogging with either of the 2 masks I have.
once I got what I consider to be my right weight I never had a problem with the safety stop. Once I've done it I've always been able to slowly ascend to the surface. Am at 16 dives now and will do the advanced OW this summer. I may look at reducing my weight when I do the Buoyancy course on...
I dive in the Indian Ocean (water temp 25 deg C at the moment) with 26lbs and no suit.
I'd rather be a little over weighted than have trouble making my safety stop.
I'm pretty sure that when I dived in Muscat the boat driver was Sri Lankan.
also don't you need to have paid a diving tax sort of thing to dive in Musandam/Oman?
I did 3 dives with them in December. Didn't see any of the big stuff but still plenty to see. Saw a huge number of brightly coloured morays at one site. Vis was 4-5m on a couple of dives and less than 2m on the other. but I think vis in June will be a lot better.
Probably the best diving in this region is around Khasab.
As for Dubai forget diving here as the vis has been ruined by the large offshore construction projects, but there is good diving in Fujairah, about 1.5 hours from Dubai.
not much sport in that.
Illegal in UAE. my guides on a dive near Dibba actually reported to the Authorities the reg No. of the boat belonging to two divers who were spearfishing in Scuba gear.
I also know its illegal in France.
Dived at Inchacape 2 and Martini on Friday. Vis was pretty poor at abt 4m and there really wasnt a lot to see at that wreck.
By the afternoon when we did Martini vis had dropped to between 1-2.5m. was a complete waste of a dive.
and there were a lot of jellyfish which as quite worrying as...
