    Huish buys AUP

Not really. AUP does not own Pelagic, Aqualung owns them now. Hollis and Oceanic computers were Pelagic. They haven't really done much with Liquivision, and the Atomic computers have always been high end. Suunto gives them a wide range. I think Huish buying AUP is the last straw for Oceanic as...

Dust cap off first stage while soaking regs

So here's the problem, can't really verify without doing an experiment what damage only FRESH water would do. Might have to find an old piston reg that I can do a long term experiment on with fresh water intrusion. Problem is, unless you use distilled water, fresh water from the tap can have all...

Dust cap off first stage while soaking regs

Any water inside a first stage that is allowed to just sit there is always a bad idea and can cause damage. If you must soak your first stage, at least do it when the regulator is on a cylinder (turned on). If you don't think that water inside your first stage is not damaging, then go ahead...

Dust cap off first stage while soaking regs

My experience has shown it is true. And for what you are talking about, that's what regular maintenance is for (annual or semi-annual service). The benefits of soaking a first stage do not outweigh the damage you possibly could be doing. Piston regs are more susceptible to this corrosion you...

Dust cap off first stage while soaking regs

If you rinse your regs after a dive in salt water, it never has a chance to build up. I've been diving over twenty years, and not once have I soaked my regs. Never had an issue with salt water corrosion (regular service as well). Once again, SOAKING the first stage in a bucket is not a good...

Dust cap off first stage while soaking regs

This is just another great reminder that "soaking" regs is always a bad idea... As others have said, its best to bring them to a LDS and have them take a look.

Hot-Dipped Galvanized steel tank versus Triple Protected Galvanized Tanks

Yes, I know, we sell the same ones. These are not Hot Dipped, which is why I asked the OP the question.

Hot-Dipped Galvanized steel tank versus Triple Protected Galvanized Tanks

Same ones that we sell. These are not the same "Hot Dipped Galvanized" as the old Pressed Steel or Worthingtons. This is still a poly coated cylinder with epoxy paint. If these get scratched, they can still rust.

Hot-Dipped Galvanized steel tank versus Triple Protected Galvanized Tanks

Where did you see hot dipped galvinized tanks from Faber???

Hot-Dipped Galvanized steel tank versus Triple Protected Galvanized Tanks

Not true. Galvinization is only on the outside of the cylinder,

    Advice re: rupture ear drum

I have had a ruptured ear drum, quite a few years ago. I was out of the water for over 6 months, maybe closer to a year, I can't remember the specifics at this point. However, after many Doctor visits, I was able to return to diving. It was my right ear, and this ear had always given me trouble...
