    Dive bag zippers.

Just took several of my old dive bags out of storage. Two of them had stuck zippers. I am thinking it is probably salt but I am not 100% certain. I tried blasting them with fresh water with no luck. I tried silicone lubricant with no luck. Any suggestions?

Life as a liveaboard crew member?

When I worked on a liveaboard, I had several options: When we were based out of Ft. Lauderdale, I would often crash at my parent's house in Miami or travel up to cave country in north central Forida and camp/cave dive. Our company also provided a crew house (one in Lauderdale, one in Belize...

Non-AAUS Marine Labs with diving programs?

Thanks tursiops. That is the path I am following. I did contact AAUS first, but they were unable (or maybe unwilling?) to provide that information.

Non-AAUS Marine Labs with diving programs?

I wasn't aware of any non-AAUS labs that had diving programs, but apparently my lab director was at an NAML conference last year and there were several programs in the mid-west that had diving programs (and did science diving) but were non-AAUS members. She wants me to help organize a program...

Non-AAUS Marine Labs with diving programs?

Hi, I am helping organize a program for the Southern Association of Marine Labs (SAML) and I am trying to find information on marine labs that have dive programs that are NOT members of AAUS. Are any of the folks in this group affiliated with a marine lab that has a diving program that is...

    Question regarding AAUS training

I was recently hired as a DSO and I just completed my AAUS training a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I was somewhat nervous about both the UW swim and the 400 yard timed swim. While I've been an instructor for over 20 years, its been a long time since I was required to do these types of...

    Returning to SB diver

Thanks Insta-gator, working for FSU is tough...I've been a Canes fan since 1967, UM alum ('85), and both of my parents taught at the "U." I tell everyone I've gone over to the dark side working for the 'Noles.

    Returning to SB diver

I've been away from diving and away from SB for quite some time, but after going through some health issues I'm happy to report that health issues are resolved and I'm back in diving full time. I recently took the DSO and Marine Operations Manager position at FSU. It's great to be back in the...

E-Mail Notifications with my AOL E-Mail Account

I have been away from Scubaboard for a few months and am glad to be back. When I was on the board in the past, I received emails notifying if anyone replied to a thread to which I was subscribed. It appears as if this email notification feature has been disabled. I checked my settings and the...

Richard Hartley, aka The Commander. RIP

Richard will be greatly missed. When I attended my IDC at Pro Dive in 1995, Richard was assisting as his first IDC as a CD at Pro Dive. My CDs were Rip Lawler, Nelson Moore, and Bill Cole, but Richard was learning the Pro Dive system and turned out to be very helpful for those of us in my IDC...

    Galileo Memory erase?

I have someone who is interested in buying my Galileo computer (I prefer diving with my Air Z Nitrox) but he had an interesting request--he wants me to delete all the dives I have in memory (I guess he wants the logbook to be reflective of only his dive profiles). Will removing the battery for...

    Bittersweet day

Today is a bittersweet day for me. After three years of owning and operating my dive shop, today is my last day as owner and operator. I have sold the shop and the new owner takes over Monday (I am giving him 4-6 weeks of training starting Monday). I am happy to have sold the shop, but I will...

Bauer Automatic Condensate Drain System question

Hi Dave, thanks again for all your help. I tried cleaning up all the parts (totally disassembled the ACD system), to no avail. Bauer suggested a newer model solenoid and coil which apparently are a superior design to the original factory installed unit. I have ordered the parts and am anxiously...

Bauer Automatic Condensate Drain System question

Hi Dave, thanks for your suggestion for the ACD system. I tried unplugging the electrical plug on the solenoid when the unit was running but the drain did not operate. I wasn't sure if you meant the valves in the drain system might need a rebuild OR if you meant the valves on the second and...
