Tokina is a great lens indeed, but now I want to dive at a place (Azores) with (smaller) types of manta's and sharks: because of the fact you have to be very close (which is not always posible for sharks e.g.) I am looking for alternatives. Any suggestions ? The sigma 17-70 I was looking at...
I sea some old threads on this, but is there somebody that has suggestions for the best zoomgear for the sigma 17-70 hsm lens for canon in mdxhousing ?

With my Tokina 10-17mm I have to choose between AF (and then I can zoom - 10 <-> 17 - with the zoomgear) or I set to MF, but then I can not focus from my housing anymore.
Sometimes I have the problem with big fish with AF that my camera has difficulties with focussing and I missed the...
Hi Philiboy
I have the same problem and it is not only for reading computers etc, but also I take pictures and the macrostuff becomes very hard to discover. So, You only changed one glass ? What is the effect then ? you close the left eye to see far away and the right eye to see for the...
thank you all guys, all great feed back. It makes changing my mind. I will go for the teleconvertor.
I heard also of this reefnet magnifier and contacted them a few days ago. They are producing a new even better quality magnifier, +10 at a price - if you order 'asap' - of 75 $, which is very...
thks andy
it took me also a long time to decide. If you look into diffferent sites, what people are most of the time complaining about, is the autofocus which seems to be very slow. But the pictures you see are magnificent, and then with a diopter on top of it (inon or reefnet) you have...
I would like to buy the sigma 105mm for my E410. I decided not to wait anymore for the oly-version.
Has anybody an idea (or has the same configuration) what extension I would need for my Olympus housing and Inon macroport I use now. I would guess the PER-E02...
Hi there
I see some criticism on using the 9-18mm with the INON-dome port. I bought the 9-18mm very recently and I had already bought the INON-dome last year, so I was al little anxious reading this tread, also Pennywise was not to enthousiastic. But why is this ? I put today the lens in my...
what i use is the 50mm + the 50mm- port from INON, which is much cheaper than the the olyport and the INON-wet lens which you can attach to this INON port (not possible with the olyport). In fact I bought originaly the oly-port, reselled this port (2nd hand) and bought with the same amount of...
Hi guys
thanks for the replies already. Some additional comments, my initial question was to be able to get further away from the subject
- I use already the 50mm with the diopter: indeed great results but the needed distance between the subject and lens is even smaller
- indeed the 50mm is...
In the 'Nikon-area' photographers are using sometimes the 105 mm (Tokina)macrolens, a little more focallenght but with the advantage you can keep a little bit more distance from critter that dislike a 50mm macrolens on top of there head, so maybe they can leave there hole a little bit more for...
Phil
very nice pictures !
Did you have a chance to use the 9-18mm lens ? I am very anxious to know when it is available and maybe see some results already
jan
I think also that you van use the PPO-E05 for the 50mm (I use the PPE-03), as long as your arm wih the flash is long enough so you can put your flash just in front of the lens, because if your arm is to short you will have shadows on the pictures (see the different form of the two ports on the...
hi jlyly
great pictures, I have been there also and took also lots of pictures with my e-410, but yours are definitly more beuatifull ! Wich lens did you use ? Can not be the oly 50mm because it seems to be 1:1 (the 50mm is 1:2) ???
jan
back again on the new lens:
I am a little puzzled on the possibilities of the new lens and this in relation to the 8mm fisheye:
- both are +/- same price
- the 8mm is a 'real' fisheye: angle 180 degrees
- the 9-18 has probably an max angle of 110 (I saw that the angle of the 'unaffordable'...
hi
- would anybody have any idea (guess ?) what the main difference would be in qualityterms between the existing 7-14, which is in the pro-range of Oly (but anyhow unaffordable), and the new 8(?)-16(?)mm which will be in the standard range ?
- what would be the main advantage of the 100mm...
hi
anybody an idea when the ultrawide lens of olypus, see the roadmap http://www.nl.olympus.be/consumer/images/E-System_Lens_Roadmap.pdf, will come out exactly (foreseen for 2008) ?
