    Kauai in August

Aloha! Just following up with what diversteve said... 81.5 seems a little high and I would plan on the temperature being closer to 79 degrees. Sheraton is a good dive but tends to be the most over-dove/over-rated spot on Kauai. There are many dive destinations that are far better. The South...

    3 day Scuba Certification: Hawaii

ZenDiver.3D has it right. While it can be done in "as little as 3 days", it is not wise to rush through your training. I think that this is absolutely one reason we are seeing less and less diver retention these days. Take your time...its worth it!

    Kauai Shore Dive Jan 15/16

Koloa Landing is definitely the spot you will want to go. Recommend taking a guided tour to get the lay of the land as well as pointers on what to look for and where to find it. After taking a tour there, you should be fine for renting and D-I-Y!

Niihau Season is here and it's awesome already

I must agree with Anthony...Ni'ihau is one of those dives that if I could do it everyday, I would. There is no other dive in Kauai or Hawaii quite like it. Here are a couple of pictures that Doug from Aquatic Adventures took - We didn't get to see one of those Tinkers, but we still had...

    On Kauai 6/10-6/16 need help/advice

rich...I am working on making it available to Westin guests, but as of now, it is a St Regis exclusive. Not to say that you couldn't get there or that you would be denied access, but it is a MAJOR haul to get your gear there if you do not have direct access (provided to certain companies by the...

    April Diving

You are correct in that Kauai does not have "pretty" coral. We have a lot of hard (or slow-growth) corals that tend to come in earth-tone shades. They are pretty, but it is a matter of appreciation for something different. Kauai does have "big" aquatic life, but it is found at Ni'ihau and...

    On Kauai 6/10-6/16 need help/advice

Saw your post and thought I would say hello. My name is Shawn and I own and operate Aqautic Adventures here on Kauai. We do shore and boat diving. There are several good companies to choose from here on the island. Seasports and Fathom Five are the most well known, but Bubbles Below is one...

Educate me, back inflating BC vs. Normal inflation

Aloha... A back inflate is typically superior to a jacket-style bc in many ways. 1. it is more streamlined 2. it is more comfortable 3. it typically has more lift 4. when you utilize this lift, it does not compress you as it inflates 5. more versatile and more practical applications...

    Tank rental/fill in Kauai (Poipu/Kaloa)

Seasports, Fathom Five, Kauai Down Under and Aquatic Adventures can all provide you with air. All are located within 3 miles of each other and all are either PADI or NAUI resorts. As far as diving, Koloa is one of the choices that you have. Another choice (shallow dive 25ft) is Prince...

Alex's Aquatic Adventure (Alex Mason) Oahu

In order to be a PADI Resort, you must have a store front and meet certain standards. However, being a PADI Resort is still no guarantee that you will have a good experience. I agree with Japan-Diver that word of mouth is the best way to judge what kind of "Resort" you are dealing with.
